University College, Mangalore was established in the year 1868 as a Public Educational Institution, currently having 151-200 position in NIRF Ranking 2020. University College Mangalore is accredited by NAAC-A, and is affiliated with Mangalore University, Mangalore. University College Mangalore offers admission in the field of Management, Humanities and Science at UG/ PG/ Diploma/ Certificate level. Dr. Anasuya Rai. is the Principal.
Though the institution was a day school from grade 1 to matriculation initially, it came into existence in 1824 as The Provincial School, a venture by Bassel Mission, Christian Missionary from Switzerland (1815-2001). After decades of re-development, in July 1992, it finally got the name by which we know it today, University College. It was handed over to the Mangalore University on 7th March 1993 by the then state Chief Minister and it got the approval from University Grant Commission (UGC) in 1996 where further developments were made to the college. It is re-accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ grade. It has also been certified by IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell).
