Guru Nanak University

Guru Nanak University has an expert panel of around 50 trained professionals who are dedicated to prepare and groom the students for the upcoming job opportunities. It prioritises training the students and facilitating them with pre-placement offers.

The Training & Placement Cell of the University assists the students in developing their overall personality and acts as an interactive link that helps the potential students attain jobs in the leading companies.

Students are provided with individual career counselling wherein the mentors guide the students in choosing the suitable career path. Additionally, the University offers industrial exposure to the students by providing them with internship and training opportunities in collaboration with companies such as Triedge, Virtusa, Internshala, TASK, Ziroh Labs, etc. Students are exposed to the real time work environments with the purpose of enhancing their technical and employability skills.

Students from various disciplines of the University have been hired by leading companies such as Virtusa, EPAM, CTS, Infosys, L&T, Capgemini, HPE, TCS, Wipro, Mphasis, Vistex, Accenture, Tech Mahindra, Hyundai Mobis, Sintex, Polmon, Magnaquest, NTT Data, IBM, Zensar, Cyient, OpenText, Berkadia, CtrlS, Amazon, Genpact, Synopsys, Posidex Technologies, MAQ, Kony Labs, Mindtree IT Solutions, ValueMomentum, SEW, etc.

The campus of Guru Nanak University Hyderabad is spread across approximately 100 acres of land. It is segregated into academic blocks and separate buildings for each department that have a modern architecture. The University has LAN and Wi-Fi connection so the students can easily utilise the internet for their academic requirements.

The tutorial rooms and classrooms are equipped with the ICT enabled teaching-learning aids, LCD projector and uninterrupted power supply. It can accommodate around 100 students whereas the tutorial classes have an accommodation capacity of 20-40 students.

Other infrastructural facilities of the University are discussed in detail below:

• Library: There is a central library in the University that is fully air-conditioned, and has a carpet area of approximately 2000 square metres. It houses a comprehensive collection of study resources such as general and competitive examination books, around 200 Indian journals in print format. There is a separate reading hall that has an accommodation capacity of around 700 students. Other infrastructural amenities of the library include CCTV surveillance, reprography services like printing and photocopy, etc. There is a computer centre with Internet connection in the library, which can be used to access the digital library facilities provided by the University. It consists of around 82,585 study materials, about 10,000 e-books, approximately 25,172 videos from NPTEL, Berkeley, Stanford and MIT, etc. The University has subscribed to e-journal packages of DELNET, J-GATE, IEEE, ASME, Bentham, and ASCE. Students are also provided access to the MOOC courses offered by NPTEL, Spoken Tutorial, and Coursera, respectively. Moreover, there are many departmental libraries and e-libraries in the University that too has a well-stocked collection of various educational resources in multiple disciplines.
• Laboratories: There is a computer lab in the University that has modern software and hardware to provide practical learning experience to the students and enhance their digital skills. The laboratories and the advanced research centres are equipped with modern machineries, tools, foundries, and other equipment to provide experiential learning to the students. • Auditorium: The auditorium in the University is air-conditioned and has an accommodation capacity of around 600 people. Moreover, there is an open air auditorium with a seating capacity of approximately 2000 people.
• Seminar Hall: Seminar halls are available in each department of the University.
• Cafeteria: There is a central canteen in the University and approximately 4 cafeterias which are open to all and a separate cafeteria for the NRI students where dishes are served catering to their taste preferences. The central canteen is spacious and has an accommodation capacity of around 300 people. Students are provided with a variety of healthy meals and beverages at nominal price that are prepared under hygienic conditions. The cafeterias are open on all holidays and working days.
• Hostel: Separate hostels for boys, girls, NRI students, and guest houses for visitors are available in the University campus. The hostels are well maintained and fully functional. The dining hall is open round the clock where various types of vegetarian and non-vegetarian healthy and balanced meals are served prepared under hygienic conditions. The mess menu of the hostel varies daily in order to fulfil the nutritional needs of the students. The hostels have the facilities including Wi-Fi, laundry, indoor and outdoor games, TV room, Surveillance cameras, round the clock security, power backup, medical facility, ambulance availability, etc. Moreover, the residential staff and housekeeping services are available to maintain cleanliness in the hostel premises.
• Sports: The University has well-maintained sports facilities and equipment to ensure the physical growth and participation of the students in various sports. Separate grounds and courts are available for outdoor sports such as cricket, basketball, football, and volleyball. Indoor sports facilities are available for carrom and table tennis. There is an indoor stadium in the University equipped with badminton courts and LED illumination. The University hosts various sports activities and tournaments including inter-departmental and inter-university competitions. There is a gym, yoga centre and a women’s exercise centre in the sports complex that is equipped with the latest amenities. The University provides coaching and training facilities by dedicated sports and yoga faculty that take care of the students’ physical well being.
• Transport: The University campus is well connected to the nearby areas. It has 50+ AC and non-AC buses which operate at various stops in and around the city covering roughly a radius of 60 Kms. Students are provided with cost-effective transport services along with the presence of a faculty coordinator in the bus to ensure the safety of the students.
