Sanjay Ghodawat Institute which started in 2009 later became Sanjay Ghodawat University. The university came into existence in the year 2017 after receiving all the approvals from the top educational bodies. The Sanjay Ghodawat University Kolhapur has built its base on core values like transparency, integrity, equality, accountability, empathy, quality, and last but not the least stewardship.
The Sanjay Ghodawat Group of institutions were started by honorary Mr. Sanjay Ghodawat, after whom the university has been named. He had his strong views strongly and always believed that it’s the students who can bring the change. So, he dedicated this university to uplift the standards of education in the country as the university today ranks among the top universities in the state that already has the likes of many top universities. The current vice-chancellor of the university is Professor Arun Patil who has previously served as a dean of the Victorian Institute of Technology in Australia. SGU has brought international standards in academics and in all the courses that are offered. The university has always encouraged research-based studies. Along with theory a lot of practicality has also been included in the academics.
Talking about infrastructure, it’s no less than being called modern age. The university has hostel buildings, transportation facilities, modern laboratories, stocked library, quite a few resource centers, and some R&D facilities, facilitated workshops, an excellent stadium, a couple of swimming pools, tennis court, horse riding, and much more.

Eligibility – Each course of the university have their own eligibility criteria like the Engineering school has the biggest of them SGU entrance test is mandatory for all the courses of the university but for engineering and MBA scores of other national competitive exams are considered. Also, a certain amount of percentage is also required in 12th to let the entrance score be eligible for consideration.
Application From – Sanjay Ghodawat University application form is quite easy to fill as things move forward only after the application forms are submitted.
Document Submission – Once the admissions are confirmed online, the students have to bring all their documents in physical to validate. Once the validation is done, the admissions are granted.
Sanjay Ghodawat University scholarships are of two kinds. They are merit and loyalty based. Let’s discuss both in detail:
Merit Based Scholarship – For MBA, the students scoring 100 & above in MH-CET gets Rs 22.5k waiver. For B. Com & BBA, HSC percentage if are above 90, then they get a scholarship of 3750 & 12k respectively. Likewise, for all the seven schools, the university provides merit-based scholarship either on entrance scores or the 12th percentage.
Loyalty Based Scholarship – Well, the loyalty scholarships are awarded only to the students who pursued PG from here. So, for all the students who have done their UG from SGU automatically becomes eligible for scholarships 10% for courses like MBA & others.

SGU facilities are like a list of things that will end to the moon. The campus area is enormous and is surrounded by hills from one end. Amid the facilities there are plenty of them but the standout ones are listed below:
Labs – One can’t count the number of labs and workshops the university has. In all there are over 50 labs and 2 workshops which are mostly used by engineering students. From electrical lab, to chemical lab, to computer labs, no department has been left out as all the department have at least one or more labs for them.
Hostels – H1, H2, and so on is how the hostel buildings are named and more than number of hostels, it’s the hostel facilities and quality of building that matters more. Boys and girls hostel blocks are at the campus. H1 and H2 are inter connected and shares the mess. The dining hall of the hostels are no less than any food courts as they are clean as a whistle and provides delicious food to the students. In all there are 7 hostels at the university including boys and girls.
Sports Facilities – Sports grounds of highest quality, swimming pool to die for and other facilities that can’t go down without mentioning. A cricket ground that has 5 strips to play at and a stadium cover so that tournaments look like an international or at least a national level tournament. There are two basketball courts, a hockey field, a football stadium, and volleyball court. Not just outdoor but indoor facilities too are no less as the indoor facilities of the university boasts a world class gymnasium apart from various indoor sporting activities. From powerlifting machines, to weight lifting machines, the gym has almost everything that one desires for in a gym.
There is a convocation hall, an auditorium, a huge food court, and medical facilities to go by as the campus is enormous and the facilities are even bigger.
The Sanjay Ghodawat University is a State Private University established in the year 2017-18. It was established as a State Private University in 2017, with the approval of State Government and UGC. Academic Council regulates the rules and regulations for the proper functioning of academic programs.
Admission in the University is made based on merit. Scores accepted at the institute are National Level Entrance Test (JEE), Other State Level Entrance Test of States, CET, MHTCET, and National Level Entrance Test operated by SGU, Kolhapur.
The common entrance exam of SGU is on the basis of specific parameters. Firstly, the candidates should register for SGU CET before the last date. They can apply online as well as offline. For M.Tech programs, SGU CET is on the basis of Multiple Choice Question format for 50 Questions for 100 marks. Candidates who have cleared their CET/ JEE/ GATE do not have to give the entrance test.
The Central Library of the University supports the students through a comfortable, safe, and friendly environment that enables learning and advancement of knowledge. The library focuses on being the leader and partner in bestowing world-class information. It aims to develop and implement ideas, teaching, learning, and services. The library holds 32,600+ books, 100+ Journals and magazines, two e-journal packages that contain 4,000+ e-journals, 12,000+ IIT Video lectures, 50,000+ IIT Web Courses, and 13 News Papers.
Affiliations and Recognitions
SGITMR has been among the 16 Private Engineering Institute in the Education World India Private Higher Education Rankings 2017-18. It has also received the First Prize in the Annual College Magazine “UMANG”. The institute received Lokmat Icon of Maharashtra Award and the honor for Best Brand from Asia, GCC by media Consultancy, Dubai, and Best Infrastructure Award by AICA.
SGI ranks at the second place among all the Engineering Institutes in the Kolhapur, Satara, and Sangli Region. The institute is also ranked in the A++ category and among the top 1- colleges as per an independent survey by Chronide India Publications in July 2012.
