The Ponnaiyah Ramajayam College (PRC) was established in the year 1994. PRC was awarded with NAAC ‘A’ Grade in the year 2004. In the year 2009 PRIST Deemed to be University Puducherry Campus was established. The NAAC Accreditation was awarded to PRIST Deemed to be University in the year 2015. The university has been approved by AICTE. The vision of the institution is to get recognized for providing quality education to the students and serve the country. The main aim is to provide knowledge in various disciplines, promote world class research and reach a wider community.
The mission of the institution is to provide excellent education to the undergraduates and offer fabulous post graduate academic programs. It also aims to offer flexible and accessible professional opportunities. The institution has various more missions such as to adopt an approach that would focus on professional education and promote innovation to achieve higher objectives; to produce knowledgeable graduates who can survive in the dynamic environment of the market and face the market challenges; to help students gain a fabulous experience with the help of caring and experienced faculties; and most importantly to contribute to economic growth and development of the nation. The campus of the university is wide spread over 11 acres of land including various facilities for the students in the campus itself.
The university offers various courses to the students with quality education and well experienced faculties. The courses mainly offered by the College are B.Com, B.Sc, BBA, BA, BA+B.Ed, BCA, B.Tech, LLB, BA+LLB, B.Pharm, B.Arch, B.Sc+LLB, PhD and various post graduation degree in these fields. The students are selected on the basis of marks scored in the entrance exams for the admissions in the university. For some of the courses the students are taken in the college on the basis of their score in the immediate degree course. The exams accepted at the university are: CAT – MBA, JEE – B.Tech, GATE – M.Tech, NATA – B.Arch.
The candidates can apply online for admissions. The following process need to be followed by the candidate to apply for admission:
Step 1: On the website of the university in the admission section go to the section of online admission.
Step 2: Then candidate need to select the Puducherry campus and fill the personal Details in the form
Step 3: The candidate then needs to upload some documents related to the examinations qualified.
Step 4: After uploading the above Photo, Signature, Aadhar and 12th mark sheet is required to be uploaded.
Step 5: In the end the candidate needs to give a declaration that the information provided in the form is correct and then the form needs to be submitted. With this the application will be filed.
The university also provides the facility of scholarship for the students belonging to the economically weaker section. The scholarship can be claimed on the basis of the marks obtained by the students in the entrance exam that is conducted timely by the university.
Other than this the 1st year students can claim the scholarship on the basis of CGPA obtained in the immediate semester after admission. The university also provides waiver of fees up to 100% according to the eligibility of the student for scholarship. The University offers many scholarships such as Govt. Backward Class, Alumni Association Sponsored, Management free-ships and Private trust.
The placement cell of the university works quite hard for providing the best opportunities of the industry to the students. The department with the help of knowledge and best practices of the industry brings the necessary changes and help students to build personality and transform into a knowledgeable and experienced person with allowance to development and growth. The curriculum is designed in such a manner that it not only helps in the enrichment of the personality but also in practical life skill training. The objective of the university in context of the placements is to make students graceful and smart and improve their communication skills and mind management skills for facing the future events in the industry confidently. The department focuses to help students enhance his various skills such as Critical thinking and problem solving, Communication, Entrepreneurship, Leadership, Team work, Lifelong learning & info, management skill.
As per the information obtained the average placement % of the University has remained above 80% for the last 3 years. Many reputed companies take part in the placement drive of the university. The companies visit the campus and conduct various rounds, GDs and interviews for the selection. Some of the top recruitment companies of the placement drive are ABT Maruti, BVK Fibrotek Engineers Pvt Ltd., Apollo Pharmacy, Beta Square Technologies, Infosys, TATA Consultancy Services, Cardwell Manufacturing Company, Finix Info Solutions, MAPAL Pvt Ltd, Robert Bosch, Global Software Developments, etc. The placements are offered in the various sectors such as Computer Science, Business Management, Computer Application, mechanical, civil engineering.
