PRIST University ECR campus was established in the year 2004. The university was formed in 2008, but the journey started in 1994 with the establishment of PRC (Ponnaiyah Ramajayam College). There was no looking back for the university since its inception in 2008; a year later, it opened three more branches in Trichy, Kumbakonam, and Puducherry. The university is located in the central city, and it is just 3 km from the Chennai Central Railway Station. The airport, though is a little far as it takes over an hour to travel. The distance between the ECR campus and the airport is 38 kms. The university's director for the ECR campus is Dr. S. SUBBARAJ, who holds over three decades of experience in teaching and managing the university to the best of his ability. There are several schools on the campus, and various courses ranging from engineering to pharmacy to arts & science and commerce and management courses are offered at the ECR campus. PRIST University ECR Campus Chennai has tie up with IBM for its Engineering Department. The university also has tied up with various corporate for placements as getting students placed has always been the university's top priority.
PRIST University ECR Campus admissions are solely on merit. For PRIST University courses such as B.Tech, a student should have passed 12th with 45% or more with Maths and Physics as mandatory subjects. There is a bit of relaxation for reserved category students as for them, the eligibility is curbed down to 40% or more in HSC. Likewise, for the B.Pharm course at the university, a general category student should have passed HSC with 45% or more and should have Biology as the compulsory subject. There are no entrances as for UG regular courses, the merit list is out based on the percentage the students have scored in HSC.
Along with UG, the university also offers PG courses in various domains, and the eligibility criteria differ as per the courses the students choose.
