To provide education & knowledge related to the field of Arts, Science & Commerce, Victoria Institution (college) was established in the year 1932. It is a women’s college for undergraduate studies, which strives to impart knowledge in order to encourage women's education.

The college has a single syllabus as prescribed by the University of Calcutta along with the added courses relating to different subjects, in addition, the college also provides for certain certificate courses. It provides a course structure for General & Honors courses relating to Arts, Science & Commerce, and for the convenience of students both day as well as morning sections have been created.
For admission into any of the courses provided by the college, the candidates must have to fulfill the eligibility criteria. Admission procedure: For admissions into any of the courses provided by the college, eligible candidates must have to fill the online application form through the link provided on the official website of the college. Students have to provide correct information, and after successful submission of the application form, they have to wait for the merit list provided by the college. The admissions are completely based on the merit system as prescribed by the college.
Separate “Student Support Funds” are created by Victoria Institution (College), to help exceptional students who cannot afford the fees of their courses. “Special Student’s Aid Fund” has been established for financially weaker students, so that they can afford the payment of fees, purchase books and fulfill any other necessities related to their education. Apart from this, a “Medical Benefit Fund” has also been created to provide students financial aid in the situation of health emergencies.

The cell is dedicated towards providing maximum job opportunities for the women students, so that they can become financially & socially independent.
