IIT Kanpur has a Students Placement Office (SPO) to facilitate campus placement. The Career Development Cell of the institute guides the students about job opportunities and higher study options.

SPO arranges various activities to help students improve their communication skills and interpersonal skills. Some of the activities conducted by the Placement office are:

The SPO team invites many companies from different parts of the industry to conduct placement drives. The companies that have come for on-campus placement drives are: Deloitte, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, Adobe, HSBC, Reliance, Bajaj, Indian Oil, HP, Zomato, Flipkart, Essar, Airbus, American Express, Walmart, Xerox, Trident Group, etc.

IIT Kanpur has a vibrant, Wi-Fi powered campus with state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities. The classrooms are equipped with modern tools and technology such as LCD projectors and audio-visual aids.

The Institute provides these Infrastructure and Facilities:

• Library: IIT Kanpur has an air-conditioned library equipped with a rich collection of 2,20,000+ books, 2,35,000+ bound volumes, 19000 theses, 35633+ e-books, 16000+ e-journals, 21180+ technical reports, 144+ annual reports, 1643+ journals, 5660+ CDs / DVDs, etc. Around 50 fully updated computers are available in the digital library to access the e-resources.
• Computer Centre: To cater to the computing needs of the students, a computer centre is available in the campus. The centre provides various facilities such as computer labs, software for research & general use, and other facilities.
• Laboratories: IITK houses various laboratories which are equipped with essential tools and equipment for conducting practical experiments. The Institute has these laboratories:
  • Engine Research Laboratory
  • Advanced Nanoengineering Materials Laboratory
  • Photonic and Electronic Materials Laboratory
• Hostel: IIT Kanpur has 13 halls of residence for the students. Hostel rooms are allotted on the sharing basis. Various amenities like TV room, reading room, canteen, and badminton and football courts are available. Canteens and mess are available to provide healthy food, refreshments, and snacks to the students at reasonable prices. Visitor’s hostel is also available in the college campus with all the required facilities.
• Sports: The Institute gives emphasis to sports activities and is equipped with facilities for badminton, basketball, cricket, lawn tennis, volleyball, table tennis, chess, and squash. The Institute organises various sports events and also encourages students to participate in them.
• Health Centre: A health centre is available to render medical services to students. Trained doctors are available to provide medication to the students. The health center provides facilities like ECG, Pathology, Dressing, X-Ray, Specialty Clinics, etc.
• Seminar Hall: The campus has several seminar halls fully-equipped with ICT facilities for organising various seminars, conferences, events, meetings, guest lectures, workshops, etc.
• Additional Facilities: Lecture Halls, Auditorium, NSS, Gymnasium, etc.
