IIT Kharagpur Hostel Fees: Rooms, Food & Rules

Here in IIT KGP, hostels are called Halls. Life is best in these halls. You will meet almost every type of student. Seniors are so friendly. All the required facilities are provided like play ground, basketball court, badminton court, GYM, music room, TV room, common room, etc. Infrastructure of halls depends on which hall you have been allotted. We do have residential facilities in the college itself with 22 hostels in total. There are 15 boys’ hostels and 7 girls; hostels in the campus. The hostels are very large and quite well maintained. I currently live in the Lal Bahadur Shastri hall of residence which is the largest dorm in Asia with a capacity of 2200 boarders. Sometimes due to common bathrooms and not having Air conditioners in hostels, we have to face troubles when it is hot. We do have high speed Wi-Fi across the campus and every student is given a separate LAN port to get high speed internet. There are various recreational activities into which a student can indulge themselves in other than the studies.Read Full Review

I am a boarder of LBS Hall here at IIT Kharagpur. The LBS Hall consists of all the fresher students and some seniors. There are triple sharing rooms here which are pretty spacious with essentials provided like bed, desk, chair, shelf, etc. The other halls here are well equipped as well. At the end of first year, students are split across rest of the Halls, which tries to funnel them into double sharing rooms and eventually single rooms.
