IIM Calcutta

IIM Calcutta’s Career Development and Placement Cell have established corporate relationships over the years to provide placement opportunities for its students. It organises summer internships, pre-placement talks, live projects, and more placement activities.

Many national and multinational companies have come to the IIM Calcutta campus for campus hiring. Some of the past recruiters of the institute are Accenture, Philips, Google, Genpact, Aditya Birla Group, Photon Infotech, Amazon, HSBC Group, ICICI Bank, Intel, Reliance Industries, TESCO India, Tech Mahindra, Tata Motors, Microsoft Corporation, Virtusa, Wipro, Nestle India, OM Kotak Insurance, etc.

The present campus of the university was established in 1975 on 135 acres of land at Diamond Harbour Road, Joka, Kolkata. The seven lakes surrounding the campus give a pleasing sight to everyone. The infrastructure of the campus supports the teaching and learning activities of the students. It is updated frequently to cope with the changing demands of education. The administrative and academic buildings house classrooms of different sizes and seating capacity. Apart from this, there are conference rooms, faculty and staff offices, lounges, and a business library in the administrative and academic buildings. The Tata Hall set-up in the campus provides accommodation to the Executive Management Development Program. It has 56 rooms, 4 suites, and 3 conference rooms. There’s a stupa shaped building in the campus known as ‘Management Centre for Human Values’ which provides deep study and understanding of philosophy. Besides these, the other infrastructure facilities available for students in the campus are highlighted in the following points:

• Library: IIM Calcutta Library called B. C. Roy Memorial Library was established in March 1962 to cater to the information requirements of the academic programs of the institute. It stocks over 1,60,000 volumes of books and bound journals and subscribes to 480+ journals. Students can access 40,000+ e-journals. The Library is fully-computerised and has separate areas for group discussion and private study.
• Hostel: Students are provided accommodation in three major hostels, named Old Hostel, New Hostel, and White Hostel. The New and White Hostel accommodates boys while Old Hostel is a co-ed hostel with separate wings for girls. Recently, a new hostel, ‘Lake View Hostel’ was constructed in the IIM Calcutta premises. The infrastructure facilities available in the hostels include games rooms, common rooms, courts for various sports, etc. Various cultural, sports, and community activities are organised throughout the year for the hostlers to relax, enjoy, and interact with one another. Residential quarters for staff and faculty are also available.
• Computer Centre: The entire IT infrastructure in the campus is upgraded through the Computer Centre. The campus LAN is supported by both wired and wireless infrastructure resulting in high speed internet connectivity across the campus.
• Finance Lab: The Financial Research and Trading Lab helps the students to advance their knowledge and research in financial markets. The lab provides access to financial data (national and international), business news, market information, financial analysis tools, etc to students.
• Sports: A new indoor sports complex was recently constructed and became operational from 9^th April 2022. The complex has two badminton courts, two squash courts, and two table-tennis courts. A sports competition, called Sangharsh is organised annually to motivate students to take part in the sports competitions.
• Other Facilities: Post Office, ATM, Cafeteria, Auditorium (Seating Capacity: 750 people), Medical Facilities, Swimming Pool, etc.
