B. Tech programs
Students can send in their applications to Symbiosis Institute of Technology for a host of B.Tech programs. All B.Tech courses on offer are full-time programs with a 4-year academic schedule and approved by AICTE. The program helps the students to transform themselves into thoroughbred professionals with a penchant for research and academic excellence.
Students by choosing the SIT’s undergraduate program in technology will be able to hone their personal and professional skills. Young aspirants applying for a B. Tech program can choose to specialize in any one stream out of the five offered. The technology streams include computer science, civil, mechanical information technology or electronics and telecommunication.
The curriculums of the various B. Tech programs have a high industry orientation, thereby enabling the students to stay updated. At the same time, the syllabus includes an array of value addition courses, selected from diverse academic fields. A few of these fields comprise media and management, performing arts, liberal arts, and so on.
Any candidate who has passed the 10+2/higher secondary examination, achieving nothing less than 45% marks can apply for the program. Furthermore, two of the compulsory subjects in high school should have been mathematics and physics. Also, the student must have had chemistry, biology or biotechnology as an additional subject.
The applicant also has to achieve a good score in any national level engineering entrance exam like JEE (Main). Obtaining a high score in MHT-CET or the entrance exam conducted by SIT (SIT EEE) will also let a candidate gain admission.
M. Tech programs
Symbiosis Institute of Technology admits candidates for various M. Tech programs. The student can specialize in electronics & telecommunications, geoinformatics, computer science or computer-aided design & manufacture while pursuing M. Tech program. The M. Tech programs are full-time courses with the syllabus spread across two academic years or four semesters.
The M. Tech program enables students to become experts in computer technologies and programming languages. The course emphasizes applied research as students conduct investigations to find solutions to complex problems. The program helps build students’ analytical skills, essential for dealing with technical problems.
The student picks up concepts like algorithmic principles, mathematical skills, and cloud computing, Big Data that helps them to design software. After completing the course, M. Tech students can research a specific area, leading to a Ph.D. degree. Alternatively, students can apply for a job in the IT sector, set up a startup or teach in a college.
All B.Tech/BE graduates having a minimum aggregate score of 50% can apply for this program. However, final admission will depend upon the candidate’s performance or score in the GATE or SIT entrance exam.
PhD
SIT also offers opportunities to scholars and meritorious students to conduct groundbreaking research courtesy its Ph.D. program. It was from the academic year 2010-11 that the institute started offering the doctorate program. At present, 90 scholars are conducting high quality research, under the ‘Faculty of Engineering.’
Faculty members, on behalf of the research scholars, forward proposals to agencies for sponsoring carrying out R&D activities. The scholars have several publications to their credit, and the reports have appeared in refereed periodicals.
