Kota, Rajasthan, is home to the Agriculture University. The foundation was set on the 14th of September 2013 after the Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT) bifurcation in Udaipur and Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan University of Agriculture and Technology (SKRAU) situated in Bikaner via the Act No.22 of 2013. The Agriculture University Kota is created for the welfare and development of agriculture in Southeast and Eastern regions in the State of Rajasthan. It was established in April 2018 as per the budget announcement by Rajasthan's government. It is the second constituent college located 10 kms away from the bus stand and 15 kms away from the central city railway station of Kota. It has a diverse agricultural situation from rained to canal irrigated agricultural land. Being ranked 23rd by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research all over India, it is the only Agricultural University in the state to be ranked in the top 25. The headquarters of the Agricultural University Kota is at Borkhera Farm in Kota and is situated on the Kota-Baran national highway number 76. The Agriculture University has statutory authority over the six central districts of Rajasthan, 1. Kota, 2. Baran, 3. Bundi, 4. Jhalawar, 5. Karauli, and lastly, 6. Sawai Madhopur.
To develop and educate with modern practices in agriculture, Horticulture, and Forestry for suitable livelihood conditions for the rural masses is the main motive of the services provided by the Agriculture University, Kota. With the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) membership, the units of teaching, researching extensions, and seed production are operational under the jurisdiction of the University.
For teaching, the college of Agriculture Ummedganj is situated in Kota. The agricultural research stations are in Ummedganj and Sultanpur in Kota and Aklera ad Khanpur in Jhalawar. The extension educational facilities are provided under Krishi Vigyan Kendra at various locations in Rajasthan. The Kota and the Seed production facility is provided under a mechanized agriculture farm in Ummedganj, Kota. The Agriculture University courses include Agriculture, Horticulture H, and Forestry H in B.Sc. of 4 years each. Agronomy, genetics, plant breeding, horticulture, floriculture and landscaping, horticulture fruit science, and other subjects are available for M.Sc. students for two years. For the Ph.D., topics such as agronomy, plant pathology, genetics, and plant breeding are general for six years—a total of 3 courses across 18 specializations and much more. The Agriculture University owns 146 hectares of farmland on which they grow various crops and educate students. Shri Kalraj Mishra is the Hon'ble Chancellor, and Prof. D. C. Joshi is the vice Chancellor.
The Agriculture University admissions are purely based on merit performances of the students in the Joint Employment exam (JET). There are no online admission facilities as all the processes are done offline and through counseling at the college. The Agriculture Kota University application form and prospectus can be obtained directly from the college by physically collecting them. It is obtained for Rs. 1000 to be paid in cash at the college accounts department. The university application form and prospectus can also be asked for via postal services by sending a demand draft to the college Dean of Rs. 1100. The candidates must study the material provided thoroughly and carefully sent by the college and note the information clearly and neatly. On the day of the final counseling session and personal interview, candidates are required to bring the Agriculture University application form and prospectus with them. The candidate should come prepared with the course fee amount mentioned in the prospectus provided on the same day of counseling. Suppose the candidate has applied for a master's or similar program level. In that case, the admissions are made based on the merit score received in the Pre-PG test via the advertisement done at the national level. B.Sc. – 10+2 format passed from a recognized board or equivalent board.
M.Sc. - B.Sc. passed, or the qualification is equivalent in the applied subject.
PhD. – An M.Sc. or equivalent qualification in the applied subject is required.
The candidates applying from economically weak, Scheduled tribes, scheduled castes, and all the girls of any social category are offered scholarship facilities by the Agriculture University Kota through Rajasthan's central and state governments. The hostel fees, tuition fees, and any other type of fees are not counted in the fees paid during the admission process. Hence, the Rajasthan government helps for provision of scholarships to the students in needs during or after the time of admissions.

Before the admissions, the students are called to the college campus for counseling sessions based on merit. They are given full knowledge and information about various courses offered by the University based on merit and the placement process after completion. Several companies visit the Agriculture University Kota Rajasthan annually, such as IDBI Bank, Cribcoo and machine, Shree Ram Seed Corporation, Dhanika private limited, and many other companies. The highest package is up to 7 LPA, and the average overall package is about 3.5 LPA. The College guarantees 100% placement to all the students who have enrolled with the college via their placement cell. The cell works dedicated to training, guiding, and nurturing the students about the various opportunities and job profiles.
The Agriculture University of Kota has various facilities for its students, faculty, and staff. With a fantastic faculty count of 40 teachers, the University has maintained an image of fulfilling all the needs of its students with the best facilities.
Hostels
The University currently provides hostel services to boys, and soon they will start hostel services for girl students. They used to provide hostel facilities for boys with private rooms and accommodations available in nearby areas such as Kaithoon, Dhakarkheri, and Kota. However, now they have in-house hostels with all the basic facilities.
Library
A well-furnished and Internet-equipped library is established on the college campus. They have a collection of approximately 1100 physical books and 200 E-books available for different subjects and courses. They have 150 printed journals and 30 articles in e - journals articles. They spent 4 lakhs rupees to add more books for Ph.D. level to the collection.
Laboratories
The Laboratories are constantly renovated and upgraded as per the needs and want of the students. The labs are available in many departments, such as Agronomy, soil science, PBG, horticulture, plant pathology, biochemistry, physiology, and entomology. The equipment made available for the students to use regularly for their experiments, research, and studies are AAS, HPCL, GC, PH meter, EC, spectrophotometer, a variety of microscopes, laminar flow, nitrogen, phosphorus, nutrient determination, and much more.
Sports and Gymnasium
Various recreational facilities include grounds to play volleyball, kabbadi, basketball, table tennis, and other sports facilities. They also have an in-house gymnasium accessible to the students for use.
