Soban Singh Jeena University was established in the year 2020 as a State University. This university was created out of Kumaun University of which it had been a campus of over 40 years. SSJU was approved by the cabinet of Uttarakhand in 2019 and recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The university offers UG, PG, Diploma programs in the field of Science, Arts and Mathematics. Along with this, the university also offers Certificate courses in Yoga, Naturopathy & Yogic Science, Marma Therapy, and Panchakarma Therapy.
