National Institute of Design Jorhat was established in 2019 as an Institution of National Importance under DPIIT (Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Government of India. It is an autonomous Institution and recognised by UGC.
Vision and Mission: It envisions indulging in educational practices with innovative research. It aims to connect various social practices and cultural lifestyles with the help of traditional and digital technologies. Moreover, to inculcate an entrepreneurial mindset in the students and offer them a competent culture.

NID Assam in collaboration with different companies organises placement activities for the students. It acts as a bridge between the students & the potential industrial recruiters. Moreover, it facilitates projects, internship and placement opportunities to the students.
The fully functional campus of National Institute of Design Jorhat Assam is located near Tocklai River and spread in approximately 30 acres of land. The campus has a high speed internet connectivity and availability of Wi-Fi networks in each block. The infrastructure includes various blocks including workshop, academic, and administrative blocks, along with a central park.
There are around 3 lecture halls, each having a seating capacity of around 60 students. These are equipped with the latest teaching and learning aids like power podium, surround speakers, short throw projectors, remote controlled display screen, etc. Students are trained in the studio rooms. Besides, the campus is under CCTV surveillance round the clock for the safety of the students. Additional amenities of the campus include:
The extensive collection of the library includes 4048+ books, around 31 periodicals, more than 119 bound volumes, reports, newspapers, to name a few. Other facilities include a reprographic section where computers, scanners and printers are available for the students.
