BBMKU (also known as Binod Bihari Mahto Koyalanchal University), Dhanbad established in 2017 is a State University. BBMKU Dhanbad is approved by UGC. Admission in BBMKU is offered in Engineering, Humanities and Science at UG/ PG/ Doctorate level with scholarship benefits to deserving students.
Binod Bihari Mahto Koyalanchal University abbreviated as BBMKU Dhanbad has its existence since 2017. It was set up to impart high quality education in the field of Science, Humanities, and Engineering. It is currently working as a State University with the approval of UGC.
Vision and Mission: The University was set up with a vision and mission to provide ethical education and need based research through learning beyond the classrooms, collaborating industry and academics, and encouraging innovative research. It works to create employment opportunities for the betterment of the society.
BBMKU Dhanbad has 10 constituent colleges, 25 B.Ed colleges, and 28 affiliated colleges in Dhanbad and Bokaro districts in Jharkhand. Several UG and PG programs in multidisciplinary areas including Computer Science, Management, Environmental Science & Disaster Management, Arts & Culture, Law, Foreign Languages, Mass Communication, etc. are run by the university.
B.A, B.Sc, B.Tech, B.E.d, B.Com (Hons), LL. B, M.A, M.Sc, M.Com, M.Tech, B.Tech, MBBS, B.Ed, BDS, etc are the degrees provided by the university through its constituent and affiliated colleges / institutes.
Admissions to the University for UG and PG courses are based on the merit secured in the qualifying exam. The university can also conduct the entrance exam for admission. However, it is not mandatory to conduct a written test for preparing a merit list. 60% of the total seats in the university are reserved for SC / ST / BC-I / BC-II and economically weaker sections of the society and the remaining 40% seats are open to all (unreserved). Candidates seeking admission for Ph.D courses must appear in the written test (70% weightage) followed by the interview (30% weightage). 50% marks for General category are required to qualify in the Ph.D entrance test and 45% for SC/ ST/ OBC categories.

The University awards scholarships to students who performed exceptionally well in studies. It offers BBMKU Scholarship for Topper Students of Post graduate departments. The reserved category students are also offered scholarships by various government and non-government organisations, agencies, industries, etc. Scholarships available on the National Scholarship Portal and e-Kalyan Scholarships are offered to university students who satisfy the prerequisites and conditions of the respective scholarships.

BBMKU has a Placement Cell which works constantly to place its students in reputed companies. The Cell establishes contact between industry and academics to serve its students better placement and internship opportunities. It conducts several activities throughout the year to groom its students to acquire necessary skills, personality development, and knowledge in their respective fields. The alumni of the university are currently employed in leading companies and pursuing higher education in India and abroad as well.
BBMKU Dhanbad campus has state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities for its students and staff. The management has made sure to provide all necessary facilities to its students, so that they can continue their educational journey smoothly and efficiently. The academic facilities in the campus include high-tech laboratories, smart classrooms, ICT lab, Computer Centre, etc. Students can access wide learning resources from the library of the university.
Besides academic facilities, sports facilities for different outdoor and indoor games are also present in the campus. Students are motivated to stay fit and healthy through active participation in sports activities. There is a well maintained and hygienic canteen in the campus catering the food requirements of both students and staff. A common room for girls and boys students is also made in the campus.
