The Kamdhenu University was established in the year 2009. It's a State University; therefore, even though it offers facilities like top private universities, it doesn't charge that much for any of its courses. Kamdhenu is a holy cow who is known for fulfilling all the wishes in ancient times. Thus, the University has kept its motto on those lines as it wants all the students who come here to study hard and fulfill all their future desires. The Kamdhenu University is located in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, the capital city.
Apart from the university campus, the University has two more colleges under them, the college of Dairy Science in Amreli and Polytechnic in Animal Husbandry situated in Himmatnagar. The courses provided by the University include Diploma, UG, and PG courses in Dairy Technology, Animal Nutrition, Animal Genetics and Breeding, Livestock Production and Management, Animal Husbandry, and Veterinary to interested students. The University is managed by Dr. N.H. Kelawala who is the honourable Vice Chancellor of the University and an Ex-Officio Chairman. The university area is around 12 acres and is located at Sector 10 in Gandhinagar. The nearest railway station to the campus is Gandhi Nagar Railway Station which is 5 km from the campus and the nearest airport. i.e., Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport is 16 km from the university campus.
Kamdhenu University's core courses are Dairy & Fisheries and Veterinary. For admissions in both these colleges of the University, 12th marks are sufficient. For all Kamdhenu University courses, admissions are done online through their official website. The candidates will have to register on the University's web portal and fill up the Kamdhenu University admission form to proceed with the Kamdhenu University admission process. The candidate must fill up their name, valid Email ID, Mobile number, currently in use, address, and course details for registration. A link to complete the application process wills the shared on the email ID provided, via which one can verify their account and log in. Post filling the form, upload scanned images of the required documents as asked in JPG or PNG format. Payment of the fees can be made via debit or credit card. Even net banking facilities are available.
The eligibility criteria for BE and B.Tech courses are marks scored in class 12th in the relevant stream, and the entrance exams scores of GUJCET/ JEE MAINS/ AIEE are considered. For UG Diploma courses, the eligibility is the 12th pass from a recognized board of education. MF.Sc. courses require eligibility of being a graduate in the relevant stream and must have given the entrance exam of ICAR AIEEA. The Kamdhenu University offers three programs at the PG level in Technology, Veterinary, and Fisheries Science. M. Tech in DT is a two-year program with two semesters every year. M. Tech in IT offers 2 specializations in Dairy Chemistry and Dairy Microbiology. A candidate's eligibility to be fulfilled is having a bachelor's degree in dairy with 50% aggregate from a well-known or recognized University.
M.F.Sc. and M.V.Sc. also offer specializations in various sections. M.V.Sc. provides specialization in Animal Genetics and Breeding, Animal Nutrition, Livestock Production and Management, and other related fields. The eligibility for these Kamdhenu University courses is a bachelor's degree must in Veterinary Science with 60% aggregate for general candidates and 55% aggregate for SC and ST candidates. Health
Every year, the University organizes Thalassemia screenings and educational programs for students. They celebrate International Yoga Day every year with of their students and faculties. They even organize various blood donation camps, and the distribution of immunity booster decoctions is beneficial. A small clinic too has been set up at the campus, and the University has its ties with some private hospitals in Gandhinagar where students can get treated free of cost.
Library
When the University started in 2009, it had the tiniest of libraries. Come 2015 and the establishment of an advanced and more extensive library was done by the University. The library has added books related to information on PG, Veterinary, animal sciences, dairy, fisheries, and allied sciences. Non-academic books are also provided at the university library. Even the faculty members are benefited from these services. The University has installed KOHA software for automation in the library. They have an E-resources facility made available for students so that they can access journals of their choice at any given point.
Hostels
The Kamdhenu University hostel facilities provided to all the students who want to seek them. The University has separate hostels for girls and boys at its constituent colleges and polytechnics. All the affiliated institutes are also providing hostel facilities to the students. The hostel students must follow all the rules and regulations related to curfew times and mess timings. The mess serves food till 10 pm, and students have no choice but to have their dinners finished by then.
