NIT Durgapur Faculty Profile

In NIT Durgapur, there are 25 to 30 teachers and professors. They are highly qualified. Almost all have done PhD in their domain. The professors explain every topic in such a manner that the topics can be visualized and easily understood. They prepare presentations and PPTs for making us understand the topics more clearly. All the faculty members are highly qualified and have different teaching skills. Most of the professors teach in a very concept based approach. Most of them provide the course PPT’s and other necessary study materials. The teacher student ratio is quite satisfactory and mostly the teachers are always available. All the teachers of my department are friendly and promote active participation of students while teaching. They are always available to answer student's queries through mail and also through meeting in their cabins.Read Full Review

Like any Institute, there are some excellent faculty members from around the world who have first class research experience. They have also done their Ph.D in their respective fields. Whereas there are some others who have got a job and have just been existing without any meaningful contributions to research or teaching. In general the course is slides/blackboard based. Though in general CS professors are approachable, however the same cannot be said about some branches like Chemical Engineering or Mechanical. The teacher- student ratio depends on the class size, ranging from 1-200 in CS for some subjects, to 1-100 for others.
