Swami Vivekananda University provides hostel facilities to students. Staying on campus allows the students to regularly attend classes, participate in activities, and stay at the centre to access everything easily.

The Hostel at SVU Kolkata is a plastic-free zone; it has a calming atmosphere with greenery, making the stay of the students memorable. The residential facilities at the Swami Vivekananda University hostel are available for male & female students.

Hostel fees for Swami Vivekananda University must be paid within the 10^th day of the first month of the period. Students who fail to pay the fees on time will be charged with late fees.

It must be noted that the accommodation to the students is assigned for the entire year at the SVU Kolkata Hostel. Even if the student vacates the room in the middle of the year, the hostel fees for the entire year must be paid. The hostel fees may increase from time to time.

Hostel residents at Swami Vivekananda University Campus are required to adhere to certain rules and regulations in order to maintain the decorum; below-listed are the rules for hostellers:

• Hostellers must be dressed appropriately and follow the dress code specified by the University.
• The University strictly prohibits the possession / consumption / distribution of any alcoholic products, narcotics, prohibited drugs, tobacco items, or any other addictive items.
• To leave the hostel premises, students must obtain prior written permission of the hostel Warden.
• Hostellers must not vandalise the hostel property, else they will be evicted from the hostel.
• All the SVU Kolkata hostel residents are expected to keep their rooms, bathrooms, common areas, and surroundings clean.
• Cooking in the hostel is strictly not allowed. Furthermore, at the Swami Vivekananda University hostel rooms, students are  not permitted to keep any electrical appliances including Television, oven, heater, iron, etc.
• Only parents or close relatives of hostellers are allowed in the visitors’ area between 12 PM and 5 PM on Sundays & holidays only.
• Hostellers are allowed to leave the campus only once a week between 4 PM and 6 PM with the permission of the hostel authority and that is for purchasing personal belongings.
• The hostel residents at the SVU Kolkata must not change their rooms or sleep elsewhere on their own, otherwise strict actions will be taken.
• Students must carry their own bed sheets, blankets, towel, mugs, medicines, and other necessary belongings while shifting to the hostel.

The common rooms are available at the SVU Kolkata hostel including one in the boys’ hostel and others at the old and new girls’ hostel. These common rooms provide an ideal space for playing indoor games, watching movies, or conducting presentations for the hostel residents. A big projection screen and several indoor games such as Badminton court, Basketball court, and other board games are available in the Hostel common rooms.
