The Vels University, located in the Pallavaram region of Chennai, was established in 1992 with the focus on transformation of a student and their character into being committed to serving towards nation's development in the best way possible. Founded by, who, A visionary educationist, Dr. Ishari K Ganesh is the founder of the University. He is an M.Com, MBA, B.L, M.L, Ph.D. and the current president and chancellor of the University. He leads the strategic planning department of the institute for future progress. He built this University in the fond memory of his father, Shri Isari Vejan, a former minister in the government of Dr. MGR. The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, acknowledged the University status of Vels educational trust as Vels Group of Institutions.
At Vels University Chennai, the Governing Board consists of representatives from different agencies, including the Grants Commission, the Government of India, and eminent people who are not from academia. The campus of Vels University is eco-friendly, along with greenery all around. It has multiple facilities, which are offered to all the faculty, students and staff members. They follow a semester pattern of exams and course choices based on the student's academic performance for both Under-graduation and Post-graduation levels. VSAT Scholarship: With the Vels Student Aptitude Test, a student can avail the education of their choice. Over 10,000 students from India attempt every year for this scholarship. It is a 45 minutes test with Quantitative Aptitude and logical and verbal questions. The scholarship is offered based on the marks scored in VSAT, ranging from 10-75% fee waiver. Students with exception marks are provided full concession in the fees.
Merit Scholarship: Every year, 10 students get this chance to avail of the merit scholarship. Students with 90% and above in their 12th exams in CBSE as well as State Board are eligible for it.
First Graduate Scholarship: This scholarship is for the weaker section and lower income groups. A 10% fee for tuition can be availed by the eligible students who would pass every year with no failures or arrears.
Artist Association Scholarship: Vels University believes in helping the needy and the forgotten artists in the industry by helping their children with this scholarship.
