G. Madegowda Institute of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences was established in the year 1962 in Karnataka and is a constituent of institutes that are running under the aegis of Bharati Education Trust. Academia came into existence to provide quality education at an affordable cost in rural areas. The institute is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and approved by the Government of Karnataka.
The objectives and goals of BET are threefold. Bharati Education Trust facilitates education in rural areas, providing food for deserving, needy, and providing health care facilities. Over the time, the trust has reached new heights, and initially, hosting the pre-primary School, it is managing up to Postgraduate courses — the sincere efforts of the founder Chairman of the Trust, Sri. G. Madegowda has led to the establishment of various institutions under the auspices of Bharati Education Trust. The institutes are present at Hanumanthanagara, Bharathinagara, and Kirugavalu. Late Sri Annur S. Siddegowda, the founder secretary of the Trust, also assisted in setting up of various institutions. Now trustees of the BET manage these institutions.
The Institute of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences treasures a well-equipped library with varieties of books and other printed material related to Naturopathy and Yoga. The library provides an adequate atmosphere for learning. Students spend their precious time in the library to enhance their knowledge and can study their favorite books or issue them for some time. The institute offers a bachelor's course in naturopathy and yogic sciences. Admission to BNYS is based on merit made by the marks obtained in the qualifying examination.
