Tata Institute of Social Sciences Guwahati was established in 2008 to provide social science education. It was set up at the behest of the Ministry of Department of North East Region and the Government of Assam. TISS is a Deemed to be University which contributes towards the development of North East by offering them quality education. It is accredited by NAAC and approved by UGC.
