National University of Advanced Legal Studies (also known as NLU Kochi) [NUALS], Ernakulam established in 2005 is a State University, currently having 38th position in NIRF Ranking 2024. NUALS Ernakulam is approved by BCI, UGC and AIU. Admission in National University of Advanced Legal Studies is offered in Law at UG/ PG/ Diploma/ Doctorate level.
National University of Advanced Legal Studies came into being with an act passed in the Kerala State Legislature in 2005. The university is working as a “State University” with the approval of UGC. It is a member of Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and is recognised by BCI.
The University is running law and research programs in the 16 Centers of study and research sponsored by the Government of Kerala. B.A.LL.B (Hons), LL.M, Ph.D in Law, post graduate diploma are some of the degrees provided by the university.
To enroll in the university to pursue B.A.LL.B (Hons), students are selected based on their score in Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). Reservation Criteria is followed by the university to fill the seats for the integrated B.A.LL.B course. The Reservation Criteria is as follows:

The Placement Cell in the University acts as a bridge between the organisations from the legal fraternity and the students. The Cell conducts and streamlines the campus recruitment process. Students are provided training and internships in legal firms, NGOs, Judicial Offices, Government Institutions, etc. The Cell facilitates online interviews via video conferencing where physical interviews are not possible. Moreover, necessary infrastructure facilities are provided for the Pre-Placement Talk.
The University students are trained and have completed their internship in organisations like A&C Law Chambers, Lawgicon Consultancy, Chaubey & Company Law Firm, Phoenix Legal, Vivek Reddy Law Chambers, TLGS Consulting Group, Kerala State Human Rights Commission, District Legal Service Authority, Juvenile Justice Board, etc.
The campus of the Law University is located Kochi, the industrial capital of Kerala. The infrastructure of the campus consists of an Academic Block, Administrative Block, and Library Block. All the classrooms and faculty offices are housed in the Administrative Block. Students can access Wi-Fi facilities from anywhere in the campus. Lecture are provided in fully air-conditioned smart classrooms. Various ceremonies are conducted in the air-conditioned Seminar Hall equipped with a Bose sound system. Large, spacious, and furnished Moot Court is housed in the Academic Block. Students are facilitated with Video conferencing facilities in the Academic Block. NUALS has an auditorium built in the university premises where various activities and events are organised. The auditorium has the strength to seat 300 persons at a time. Being a Law University, NUALS has a Legal Aid Clinic to provide legal assistance to the people. The other facilities available in all the blocks are explained shortly in the points below:
