Since 1949, Gujarat University has been promoting quality education in a wide range of streams to a large group of young aspirants. The UGC has approved the University. It is accredited by BCI and MCI.
The University has a mission of empowering young students through a modernised curriculum and innovative teaching methods. The university envisages to promote research, consultancy and extension for the benefit of society. Students belonging to SC / ST or lower backward classes are provided with around 30 scholarship schemes by Gujarat University that are initiated by the Government of Gujarat. These scholarships help in influencing students to believe in their potential and perform better in academics. Research Scholars can also avail SHODH-Scheme of Developing High-quality Research provided by the Government of Gujarat.

The University has a Placement Cell that has an objective to identify potential employers for students to assist them in accomplishing higher targets in the future. The Cell also educates students about available career options and prepares them for the future by developing skills and job-search strategies needed to achieve career objectives. It also assists them in their personality development and improving communication skills by arranging seminars or classes of experts from industries.

The campus of Gujarat University has been spread over an area of around 300 acres and is surrounded by eco-friendly green fields to provide students with a sustainable environment to complete their studies.
