B.Sc (Nursing)
B.Sc Nursing is a four years course that imparts theoretical and practical knowledge. A candidate seeking admission must have cleared Pre University Examination or equivalent with Physics, Biology and Chemistry subjects with at least 45% marks in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and English of the qualifying exam. On course completion, the student gets register with trained Nurses Association of India and Karnataka Nursing Council.
The various career options include job in nursing homes, clinics, hospitals, health care departments of railways, defense, and various other government and private organizations.
M.Sc (Nursing)
Academia offers two years of postgraduate course in the field of Nursing. Indian Council of Nursing and State Nursing Council Karnataka, Bangalore recognizes this course. The specializations offered by the institute are Psychiatric Nursing and Medical-Surgical Nursing. Job opportunities include nurse anesthetist, clinical nurse specialist. After the course completion, the candidate can also become a nurse trainer and gets the chance in leadership or administrative role. This course also fulfills the requirements of teaching in nursing course.
Candidates seeking admission must have completed B. Sc nursing with a minimum of 55% marks. The selection is based on the merit that is judged on the aggregate marks obtained in University examination and marks of selection test. Candidates are required to have minimum one year of experience in hospital or nursing institution recognized by Indian Nursing council after completing B. Sc. However no experience is required for the candidate who has completed post basic B. Sc Nursing. Candidate must be a registered nurse and midwife in State Nursing Council.
