Inter National Institute of Fashion Design Saltlake Campus: Photos, Virtual Tour

The institution was well equipped but did not have a proper college campus like other colleges. The college had a small infrastructure but that never caused any dissatisfaction, we all were provided with all amenities needed. We were provided with classrooms as per subjects. The proper number of computer systems, stitching machines, and even a small library was provided where we used to reach out to refer for our projects. Even a small kitchen which used to be our mini lab where we used to execute all the textile experiments.

To start with the college did not have a campus but well propped with needful lab cum kitchen and machines. In short, the college was well equipped to aid the students to grow in their field. It used to be highly appreciated by the students who all used to make fullers utilization of the amenities. There was a good rapport between the students, faculties and staff. There were always some or the other events going on like fashion shows, exhibitions, or events held on any special occasions. Even on auspicious events like Saraswati Puja all the rituals used to get followed religiously and on Christmas, party and jam session used to get held and the arrangements of which we all used to plan and perform. Inter-class and inter-college fests used to get held too where some of us nurturing our musical, dancing, poetic or dramatic skills used to get a platform to showcase. The infrastructure was small but very well maintained. The cleanliness and hygiene maintenance used to be up to the mark. The college provided us with a library from where we used to get our books and magazines of choices issued. The faculties always tried to facilitate the students individually’ to take care of their academic needs closely. They provided a kitchen to aid us to execute our practical classes.

The institute was not like any other college, it did not have any campus like the rest of the colleges. A lot of co-curricular activities also used to get conducted like inter-class and inter-college competitions where we used to perform music, dance, and ramp shows. When everyone gets to interact on so many levels then it is a learning process for everyone to receive from each other. The college always used to invite fashion leads from the industry to pay us a visit to motivate us. During events like fashion shows and exhibitions, big movie celebrities and well-renowned fashion designers used to be invited to be our guests of honor who not only used to lecture us on how to give shape to our dreams but also used to give us a sneak-peek into their entrepreneurship to explain what work they are doing and how did they work their way out to get the exposure. The whole area of my institution was not so huge but every amenity was managed quite well inside the small infrastructure. Starting from pattern, illustration, embroidery, theory and stitching room, sufficient numbers of stitching machines, dress-forms and computers, to a small kitchen for our laboratory needs were sufficed well without any hurdles.

My overall experience in this college was splendid. The seniors, classmates and faculties have been helpful and friendly to help us reach our goal during the course and specially our dean back then. I got to participate in fashion shows and exhibitions to showcase my constructed creative streak which were judged by well known and successful profiles of the industry. For being a student of this college I kept getting opportunities to backstage in shows and events like Blender’s Pride fashion tour, Signature Lifestyle, ILPA etc. I got to meet and interact with many celebrity actors, models and designers which felt like a feather added to my hat and that made this journey more meaningful. Over here celebrating Christmas extravagantly every year was a fix. An entire club or lounge used to get booked for all the INIFDians to party together and we had to dress up according to a given theme. We had arranged the Christmas party when we were in 1st year and were much appreciated by all the seniors and faculties. The fashion events that used to get held inside the campus used to be coincided with fests to make the event more entertaining and student’s performances used to be fillers. This initiative used to give exposure to other talents of students like singing, dancing or body painting etc. The students even used to put up food stalls for people to snack in and make a little extra money. I have won a few certificates of appreciation and ranked 2nd and 3rd for my singing during the tenure of my course. The whole journey in short was very eventful and memorable.Read Full Review
