KLU erstwhile known as Koneru Lakshmaiah Charities was incepted in the year 1980. It was one of the initial private engineering colleges that started in Hyderabad and today is one of the most sought-after private universities there. The KLU Hyderabad is located in Aziz Nagar which is approximately 20kms from the main Hyderabad city. Admissions at the university are purely based on merit as no donations or caption fee is taken for admissions to any university course. The university president is Koneru Satyanarayan and Lakshman Havish serves as the Vice President. Dr G.P. Saradhi Varma serves as the Vice-Chancellor and has done a tremendous job in taking the university's name to everybody’s list of most sought-after universities. KL University courses offered are B. Tech, M. Tech, BCA, MCA, B. Com, M. Com, BBA, and MBA. The university majorly has four departments: the engineering college, management college, commerce college, and computer application department. The campus is built on 100 acres of land. Vijayawada is the closest railway station as it is just 5 miles from the campus and various means of transportation are available outside the campus.
KL University admissions are purely based on merit. The engineering students' KLEEE or JEE Main/ TS EAMCET/ JEE Advanced scores are considered. For BCA and B. Com, just HSC marks are considered. For MBA, students need to have a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 55% and entrance scores of KLBSAT/ MAT/ CAT/ TSICET are considered. Students also have to clear the interview organized by the university. Once the admissions are finalized, students are required to submit their original documents as after verification, the admissions are confirmed. One can find the KL University application form on the college website and there are enough centres in the state where students can go and appear for the entrance exams. KL University Hyderabad's admission process is always transparent as the institute has thrived to get the best students to the university.
KL University Hyderabad provides various scholarships. However, Scholarships here are merit-based as ranks in KLEEE, students with ranks 1-500 get 25% scholarships, students with ranks between 501-1000 get 15% scholarships and students with ranks between 1001-2500 get 10% scholarships. Students with 95% in JEE Mains get 25% scholarships, 93% or more leads to a scholarship of 15% and students with 90% to 93% get scholarships of 10%. Students who have secured a CGPA of 9.40% get 25% scholarships, students with 9.30% CGAP gets 15% scholarships, and students with a CGPA of 9.20% get a scholarship of 10%. For students of AP or Telangana State Board, students with a CGPA of 9.90% get a scholarship of 25%, students with 9.80% get scholarships of 15%, and students with a 9.50% CGPA get 10% scholarships. Students of other state boards to get scholarships in the range of 10 to 25%. Engineering students get scholarships for maintaining a certain CGPA to get a scholarship of 50% of their fees.
The scholarships are interlinked as students just have to apply for admission fees and their CGPA’s determine whether they are eligible or not for the scholarships. Some merit holder students also get up to 100% scholarships in case they can’t afford the fees.

Placements are a challenge for many universities but not KL University Hyderabad. They have roped in the best people to take care of T&P cells as many former students have been associated with it. The university has made collaborations for student training with international companies like CISCO, Amazon, Paloalto, Celonis, Microchip, Blueprism University, Cognizant, and others. So for placements, enough assistance is provided by the university. The placement training is done in phases. In the first phase basic training like competency, personality development, and filling the hole between the work that industry requires and academics. In the second phase, the communication skills of the students are taken care of along with confidence building. One skill that any industry checks today are logical and analytical skills and the university makes sure that students are well versed in it. Finally, leadership and managerial skills are developed. After the completion of these two phases, students hardly remain undercooked. So in the final two phases, the students are trained in the following aspects:
Once every aspect has been covered, the placements become a matter of time. The famous companies that visit the university to take students of various branches include AMD, Apple, Facebook, HP, Intel, EA Sports, Hitachi, NVIDIA, Logitech, Netflix, PayPal, Nintendo, Sony, SAP, and others. CSE students in the 2022 batch were placed with a CTC of 6 LPA on average. Mentor Graphics hired four students from the university with a CTC of 16.75 lakhs in 2021-22. Not just CS but even one of the ECE students too were placed with a similar package. For MBA, the average placements were around 7 Lakhs CTC.
Library – The central library of KL University Hyderabad is a multi-storied fully air-conditioned building. The collection of books is extensive as around 200k books are available in the university library. Apart from physical books, an e-library has been enabled and students can access it online too. The reading area of the library is suited to fit over 1000 students.
Sports – KL University Hyderabad believes in promoting sports as the city has produced some legends like Pullela Gopichand, Gagan Narang, VVS Laxman, Sania Mirza, and PV Sindhu among many others. Canteen – There are many mini-canteens in several blocks of the university along with a central canteen that is built in 1500 sq. feet. The central cafeteria has many south and north Indian dishes on its menu. The central café is fully air-conditioned and a seating arrangement of over 100 students is available at any point in time. There are many fast-food joints at the university including an outlet of Amul.
