St Xavier’s College was founded in the year 1944 by Ranchi Jesuits Society. It is situated in Ranchi, Jharkhand and affiliated to Ranchi University, Ranchi. SXC Ranchi has a Placement Cell which facilitates placement of the students in their respective discipline and prepares them according to the requirements of the industry. Pre-placement training programs are arranged by the cell on different topics for increasing employability skills of the students. St. Xavier's College, Ranchi, has accreditation by NAAC, NIRF, and is recognized by UGC. It is ranked 28th for BBA, 35 for Commerce, and 38 for Science in India. For admission, the candidates must have completed their 10+2 (UG admissions), and they need to take an interview. For PG admissions, there is an entrance test conducted by the university. The entry of the candidate is seen through merit.
There is a well-stocked central library filled with numerous bulk of books. It contains more than 1 lakh books and journals. Degree, as well as honors students, can borrow upto two books at a time. The issued books can be kept for fifteen days. Honors students may also issue books from their respective departments. The college has a reading room in the library, which remains open from 6AM to 6PM on workdays. The library remains on Saturdays and holidays. The books and Journals are an invaluable source of knowledge for the faculty members, students, and researchers. The library has rich collection of resources so that students can study without any interruption.
