Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh was established in 1882 as the University of Punjab. PU Chandigarh is a State Public University which is approved by AICTE and UGC. Punjab University is recognised by BCI, NCTE, PCI, DCI, Association of Indian Universities (AIU), Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), and National Medical Commission (NMC). PUCHD is also accredited by NAAC and NBA.
In 2024, NIRF ranked Panjab University at 60th position in the ‘Overall’, 38th in ‘Universities’, and 5th in the ‘State Public University’ Category. The University has been ranked at 59th position in the ‘Southern Asia’ and 269th rank in the ‘Asia’ Category by the QS World University Rankings 2025.

Admission Process
