Indira Gandhi University (IGU) Rewari was initially known as Indira Gandhi Post Graduate Regional Centre of Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak. It is now functioning as an independent State University since 2013. It is approved by UGC, and has NAAC accreditation.

Mission: Its mission is to inculcate innovation in teaching and learning for meeting the high academic standards at a global level. It strives towards a self-reliant society through its several programs.
Indira Gandhi University provides degrees in courses ranging from diploma to doctorate level. The programs run by the university include, M.Sc, M.Com, MA, MBA, M.Com (Hons), MCA, LL.B, B.Pharm, B.Tech, BHMCT, Ph.D, etc. IGU provide theses courses under the following faculties:
Students interested in enrolling in the university must fill-up the online application form. The form must be duly submitted with self attested documents. Selection of the students for different programs is on the basis of merit list drawn by the university. The list is prepared by taking into account academic performance or marks of Entrance Test (if applicable). Admissions to the B.Pharm program in the university are regulated by the Haryana State Technical Education Society, Panchkula. Moreover, only those applicants who have passed their qualifying exam in a regular mode are eligible to apply for admission to the university.

To uplift the weaker sections of the society, IGU awards a number of scholarships to the eligible candidates. Some of the scholarships funded by the State and Central Government to the SC and BC students in the university, include:

IGU Rewari has a Training and Placement Cell which handles all the placement activities for the students. The Cell organises several activities like pre-placement talks, group discussions, personal interviews, seminars, workshops, written tests, etc. It invites industries to visit the campus for campus placement and also make arrangements for students to take part in the off-campus drives organised at different industries or institutions.
The University campus is located in Meerpur. The Headquarter of the university is situated 10 kms away from the campus at Rewari. The campus is spread on 100 acres of land in lush green surroundings. The management also provides some additional facilities to students along with the basic facilities for comfortable and effective learning.
