The Counseling and Placement Cell in the university creates opportunities for its graduates to interact with experts of leading organisations. The Cell provides necessary training on resume making, communication skills, personality development, organises mock interviews and other things required for securing placement. It acts as a link between the job seekers and recruiters. Furthermore, guidance for higher studies is also provided by the Cell to students interested in pursuing higher education in renowned universities in India and abroad.

Many university students are hired through on-campus and off-campus placement. Some of the past recruiters of the university are: IFFCO, Orbit biotech, National Smallholder Poultry Development Trust, Bable, Bank of India, AMUL, Jammu and Kashmir Milk Producers Cooperative Ltd. (JKMPCL) Satvari, National Bulk Handling Corporation, and more.

SKUAST Jammu’s total land holding is 1223 acres including its main campus at Chatha (578 acres) and R. S. Pura campus (84.13 acres). Both the campuses are equipped with infrastructure facilities for education and healthy stay. The auditorium of the university called ‘Baba Jitto Auditorium’ has a capacity to seat 913 people at a time with facilities such as green rooms, VIP & VVIP lounge, art gallery on the first floor, office room, and more. A ‘NKL Lab and Data Centre’ was opened in the university to provide IT services to the students in their academic, research, and extension. Web services in the university are managed by this lab. Besides these facilities, more infrastructure facilities available in the university premises are slated in the points given below:

• Library: The Central library of the university is housed in the main campus at Chatha. Another Faculty Library is housed in the R.S. Pura campus at Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry. The three-storied separate Central Library building is built-up on 5382 square meters area, while the faculty library covers 2937 square meters area. The total books stocked in both the libraries are over 35,000 and the total thesis dissertations is over 2,200. Apart from this, students can access a large number of e-learning resources.
• Hostel: Separate hostel accommodation is available for both boys and girls students in both the campuses. There are a total of six hostels, of which 4 are girls’ hostels, namely: Pragati Hostel, Ujala Hostel, New Girls Hostel (Farmer Hostel), Urja Hostel, and 2 are boys hostel, namely: Lakshya Hostel and Sankalp Hostel. Hostel rooms have all the necessary furniture and fixtures.
• Sports: Sports and cultural programs are encouraged in the university. There's a big playground which has facilities for games like volleyball, cricket, hockey, basketball, lawn tennis, etc. An Indoor Sports Complex is present in the campus with facilities for indoor games like chess, carrom, badminton, table-tennis, etc. A gymnasium was opened in the complex for the daily workout by the students. Students are motivated to take part in the state and inter-university competitions also. The university students have bagged many awards in the last few years.
• Medical Facilities: Two Health Centres with the attendance of full-time medical officers and para medical staff are there in Chatha and R.S. Pura campus to provide first aid services to the students and staff. A full-time physiotherapist is appointed in the Chatha campus. Additionally, dental services are made available to students twice a week by a visiting Dental Surgeon. For emergency treatment three beds and two beds indoor facilities are available in the Health centre. However, higher sick patients are transferred to hospitals for which an ambulance is present round the clock.
• Other Facilities: Guest House, Shopping Centre, Transportation, Bank, Post-office, Cafeteria, etc.
