Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu [SKUAST], Jammu established in 1999 is a State University, currently having 151-200 position in NIRF Ranking 2024. Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu, shortly called by the name SKUAST Jammu, is a multi-campus university with its headquarters located at Chatha, Jammu. The University started its academic curriculum from the year 1999 following the amendment of the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Act, 1982 in the State Legislature. The territorial jurisdiction of the university includes Kathua, Poonch, Samba, Udhampur, Jammu, Doda, Ramban, Rajouri, and Kishtwar. SKUAST Jammu is a “State University” approved by UGC and is accredited by ICAR and VCI. There are eight Research stations and nine Krishi Vigyan Kendras in the University set-up in different agro-climatic zones.
Mission: SKUAST Jammu’s mission is to become a leading agriculture university to provide its services to the people of Jammu division, state, and the nation.
The agriculture university provides degrees including B.Sc (Hons) in Agriculture/Horticulture, B.V. Sc & A.H, B.Tech in Agricultural Engineering/Biotechnology/ Dairy Technology, M.V.Sc, M.Sc Basic sciences stream, M.Sc in Horticulture, Agriculture, Forestry and Agricultural Engineering, etc.
Admissions for UG and PG courses in the university under State Domicile is through the Common Entrance Test conducted by the university, ICAR quota through All India Counseling, nomination of in-service candidates by State Government, and VCI quota through NEET. Applicants must show domicile certificate of Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh to enroll to the university. Residents outside J&K and Ladakh can take admission to the university under NRI/NRI sponsored quota.

Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu Fee Structure
The Counseling and Placement Cell in the university creates opportunities for its graduates to interact with experts of leading organisations. The Cell provides necessary training on resume making, communication skills, personality development, organises mock interviews and other things required for securing placement. It acts as a link between the job seekers and recruiters. Furthermore, guidance for higher studies is also provided by the Cell to students interested in pursuing higher education in renowned universities in India and abroad.
Many university students are hired through on-campus and off-campus placement. Some of the past recruiters of the university are: IFFCO, Orbit biotech, National Smallholder Poultry Development Trust, Bable, Bank of India, AMUL, Jammu and Kashmir Milk Producers Cooperative Ltd. (JKMPCL) Satvari, National Bulk Handling Corporation, and more.
SKUAST Jammu’s total land holding is 1223 acres including its main campus at Chatha (578 acres) and R. S. Pura campus (84.13 acres). Both the campuses are equipped with infrastructure facilities for education and healthy stay. The auditorium of the university called ‘Baba Jitto Auditorium’ has a capacity to seat 913 people at a time with facilities such as green rooms, VIP & VVIP lounge, art gallery on the first floor, office room, and more. A ‘NKL Lab and Data Centre’ was opened in the university to provide IT services to the students in their academic, research, and extension. Web services in the university are managed by this lab.
