Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies Basar - RGUKT Basar has been in existence since 2008. RGUKT is a residential university with its three campuses located at Basar, Nuzvid, and R K Valley. At present, Basar campus is the only one that is operational due to bifurcation of the Andhra Pradesh into Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in 2015. The University is approved by AICTE.

Vision: The University was set up with a vision of imparting quality education related to technology to the rural youth who wish to pursue higher education in a world class ambiance through a blend of modern day education with traditional teaching.

Mission: Its mission is to become a knowledge hub for professionals in different engineering disciplines and to develop the campus as a research-oriented institute.

RGUKT Basar admits top 1% of the rural students providing educational opportunities to the meritorious rural students. The university runs a six year integrated B.Tech program in CSE / ECE / ME / EE / CE / Chemical Engineering / Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering, and M.Tech in CSE / ECE / Computational Mechanics in Mechanical Engineering.

Students for the six year integrated B.Tech program are admitted through the merit in the Grade Point Average (GPA) and grades obtained in each subject in 10^th class. Moreover, 85% of the total seats to the program are reserved for the local rural candidates of the Telangana state while the remaining 15% of the seats are filled by the applicants from both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Students who pass in the first two year, ‘Pre University Course’ of the Integrated B.Tech program with a score of minimum 6.00/10.00 CGPA are allocated the engineering branch of their choice.

To be eligible to take admission to the M.Tech program, candidates must qualify in GATE or TS PGECET entrance exams along with first class or a grade equal to it in B.Tech / B.E, 12^th, and 10^th class. The minimum eligible marks for SC / ST candidates are 55%. The selection of the candidates is based on the merit in the GATE / TS PGECET (80% weightage) and Interview (20% weightage).

Students belonging to the economically weaker sections of the society, girl students, and meritorious students are granted scholarships in the university based on their parents annual income annually or performance in the qualifying exam. The eligibility criteria are different for different scholarships.

Some of the scholarships supported by the university include, Merit-cum-means Scholarship by IIT Madras, P&G’s Betiyan Scholarship, Golden Jubilee Scholarship Scheme by LIC for economically weak students to pursue higher education, etc.
