Shri Shivaji Education Society’s, Amravati Science College which is popularly known as ‘Shivaji Science College, Nagpur’ came into existence in the year 1967 by the efforts of the renowned Shri Shivaji Educational Society, Amravati. The College is one of the 303 educational institutions set up by the society. At present, the college is functional under the authority of RTMNU, Nagpur. It has got NAAC accreditation and recognised by UGC with ‘Potential for Excellence’. It is also an institutional member of Asia Pacific Quality Network (APQN).
Vision: The College was set-up with a vision to create human resources by providing quality, collective, accelerating, and accessible education.

The College grants scholarships funded by the Government, Shri Shivaji Educational Society, Alumni Association Scholarship, and by its own resources. National Merit Scholarships, NCERT New Delhi Post S.S.C. Scholarship, Talent Development Scholarship in Maths and Physics, Open Merit Scholarship, Other Backward Classes Merit Scholarship, Late Ambadas Latoba Kasar Scholarship, Smt. Kashibai Kale and Smt. Gangabai Bhate Scholarship, and more are given to eligible students who satisfy the prerequisites and conditions for the respective scholarships.
Meritorious students are also awarded with gold medals, cash prizes, and awards. Student’s Council Gold Medals, Late Rajiv Manohar Gharpure Memorial Gold Medal, Late Sitaramji Govindrao Malpe Award, Parmeshti Anasuya Mata Paradsinga Cash Prize, etc are awarded to students with excellent academic records.

The Training and Placement Cell of the college is led by the Placement Committee. The Cell assists its students to find job opportunities that suit their needs and skills. It conducts pre-placement talks before the final placement each year to ensure 100% placement. The Cell has the necessary infrastructure to support the training and placement activities of its students. There are interview rooms, five computer laboratories with 270 computers connected with high speed internet, operation room, student coordination room, and more facilities to conduct the placement activities successfully.
Initially, the college began its operations form Dhanwate National College, Nagpur, later shifted to a new building in the year 1967. The present campus of the College is situated on Humpy Yard Road, Congress Nagar, Nagpur. The college has smart classrooms with overhead projector and Wi-Fi connection to display study material effectively. There is a Language Laboratory with twelve computers which helps students to get command on the English language and build confidence. For physically challenged students, wheelchairs and ramps are available in the premises. For the well being of the students, the college has an in-house gymnasium equipped with instruments like treadmills and strength machines.
