The University has a Career Development Services Department that has partnerships with several industries and corporations to provide the students with industry exposure and make them skilled professionals. Enrolling for summer internships is also mandatory at the University. The department plays a vital role in providing students with industry and professional exposure.
It also has a training segment namely EDGE (Enhanced Development Growth and Enrichment) Program that provides the students with employability skills training. It conducts various activities that help the students to become industry-ready professionals such as Employability Boot Camps, Career Counseling, and Personal Counseling.

The institution has 2 campuses in the Dehradun city, one is the UPES Bidholi Campus, called as Energy Acres and the second one is the UPES Kandoli Campus called as Knowledge Acres.
Separate hostel facilities are available for male and female students in the University with triple sharing accommodation.

It has the certification of ‘National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration.’ NDTV has awarded the University as the ‘Award of excellence’ under ‘The Environment - Friendly Office Space category.’ It has been rated as stellar 5-star rating in Campus facilities and Employability by Quacquarelli Symonds Ltd. It has been awarded as Best training institute for Port and Shipping Management program at SHIPTEK conference held in Dubai. The University has been awarded by CSR under the category of ‘Excellence in Education.’ It has also received Green Campus Award in 2013 at World Education Summit. UPES has been rated as four-star by National Green Building Rating System (GRIHA).
The University endeavors to hold a systematic approach for all its programs. There are certain rules and regulations which students have to abide by. For instance, the students must have a minimum of 75% attendance to appear in the exam.
UPES treasures three libraries on the campus, namely School of Business library (SOB), Central Library and School of Law (SOL) library. All three libraries are easily accessible. The Bidholi is a Central library present in a three-storied building with Wi-Fi facility. There is open-source library management software KOHA. Each library is equipped with a digital library with desktops for accessing e-resource.
UPES offers various undergraduate and postgraduate courses. There are three ways to admit in any course, namely the Exam Pathway, Non-Exam Pathway, and the Board Merit Pathway. For admission in B. Tech, the exam pathway includes entrance exam UPES Aptitude Test (UPESEAT) followed by centralized counseling. The Non exam Pathway requires 60 percentile in JEE Main Merit. Candidate must have 60% marks in X and XII with 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in admission mentioned above processes.
The Broad Merit Pathway requires 80% marks in X and XII with a minimum aggregate of 80% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. For admission in M. Tech, the candidate must have 60% marks in X and XII along with 60% marks in B.Tech (relevant discipline). The process includes a screening of application followed by an interview. Candidate must have 50% marks in X and XII along with 50% marks in relevant discipline in Graduation for admission in M.Sc. The process includes a screening of application followed by an interview.
Admission in LLB (Upto 80% seats) is through UL-SAT entrance exam. Admission in law programs is through CLAT Merit/ Board Merit/L-SAT India Merit.
For BBA LLB/ BA LLB/B.Com LLB candidate will directly get an invitation for GD and Interview and exempted from UPES Law Studies Aptitude Test. However, they must possess a minimum of 50% marks in X and XII. CLAT rank must be up to 10000, or LSAT India score must be 60% or above.
For admission in B. Tech LLB (Hons.) candidates are exempted from UPES-EAT and merit ranking is considered. Candidates must have minimum 50% marks in X and XII with 50% marks in PCM XII and CLAT ranking must be up to 10000 LSAT score should be 60% or above. LLM admission is through UPES ULSAT entrance exam.
Admission through Non-Exam Pathway considers Board Merit. Candidates seeking admission in law course such as BA LLB (Hons.), B.Com LLB (Hons.), BBA LLB (Hons.) are exempted from UL-SAT and will be called for GD and Interview if they possess minimum 85% in X and XII ( Best score of five subjects including English). For B. Tech LLB the candidates are exempted from entrance test and will be invited for interview and GD if they possess a minimum 70% marks in X and XII (PCM).
Examination pathway for admission in B. Des constitutes UPES-DAT 2, followed by an interview and portfolio presentation. Candidate must have 50% marks in X and XII (any stream). Non- Exam Pathway includes Board merit and JEE mains/UCEED scores. In Board Merit, the candidate must possess 65% marks in any stream in class X and XII. For JEE Main/UCEED score, the candidate must have 50% marks in X and XII with a valid score in JEE Main/UCEED. For admission in postgraduate M. Des, the exam pathway includes UPES-DAT 2 entrance exam and non-exam pathway considers Board Merit/UCEED Merit and directly invited for interview and presentation.
Selection in BBA is done directly through GD and Interview. Admission in B.A, B.Com, and B.Sc is done through personal interview. Admission in MBA is based on UPESMET entrance exam. Up to 30% of seats are filled by National level test such as CAT/MAT/NMAT/XAT. Candidates with minimum 75% score in the national level test will be called for group discussion and personal interview.
For admission in health care courses like B.Sc. Food, Nutrition & Dietetics, BBA Hospital & Healthcare Management, and D.Pharm, the candidate, has to fill the application form and after the screening, they will be called for interview. Admission in B. Pharma the candidate has to appear in UPES-PAT.
Admission in Doctoral courses such as Ph. D (Management), Ph. D (Legal Studies) and Ph. D (Engineering Science) is based on the Research Entrance Test.
