Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University

Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University - SDAU Palanpur is one of the four State Agricultural Universities which were carved out from erstwhile Gujarat Agricultural University with an act passed in 2004. The University was declared a “State University” by UGC. The jurisdiction of the university is over seven districts, namely: Aravalli, Gandhinagar, Banaskantha, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Kachchh, and Patan.

SDAU Palanpur has nine colleges of agriculture and allied sciences, twenty-five research centers, three Krushi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) and seventeen extension centers operating under it. Recently two colleges under its jurisdiction, College of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry and G.N Patel College of Dairy Technology were transferred to Kamdhenu University. The names of the colleges functioning under the jurisdiction of the university are:

• ASPEE College of Nutrition and Community Science
• College of Basic Science and Humanities
• College of Horticulture, Jagudan

The university provides the following degrees through these colleges operating under it: B.Sc in Agriculture, B.Tech (Dairy technology), Bachelor of Veterinary Sciences, M.Sc, MBA, Ph.D, etc.

Admissions for all the Agricultural Universities in Gujarat are administered by “Gujarat State Agriculture University Common Admission” (GSAUCA). Candidates for admissions to B.Tech courses in the university are selected on the basis of the academic performance in 12^th in PCM (60% weightage) and GUJCET entrance exam (40% weightage). The “Central Admission Committee for Postgraduate Studies Programmes” regulates the admission for MBA (ABM) courses in the university, starting in 2020. Candidates, who fulfill the eligibility criteria for the course, shall attempt the “Entrance Test”. Thereafter, a final merit list is prepared based on the overall performance of the candidates.

The University awards scholarships sponsored by different Government and Non-government bodies besides the scholarship offered by SDAU. SDAU provides Undergraduate Scholarship and Postgraduate Scholarship to the toppers of the university from each stream. The SHODH-Scheme of developing high quality research is awarded to Ph.D students to increase the student's readiness for research.

The other scholarships funded by the government and granted to the university students include, Post-Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child, "Ishan Uday" for North Eastern Region, Mukhyamantri Yuva Swavalamban Yojana for UG students, PG Scholarship for University Rank Holders, and more.
