The B.Tech (Aerospace Engineering) [Avionics] is a 4-year undergraduate program in engineering, and is a fulltime on-campus course. The updated course curriculum enables students to transform them into competent professionals who can distinguish themselves in the areas of avionics and aerospace. This undergraduate engineering program equips students with fundamental concepts relating to the fields of instrumentation, electronics, and aeronautics.
The entire study period is divided into eight semesters where students have to study a set of core subjects and elective subjects. Some of the core subjects include engineering graphics, environmental science, basic electronic engineering, applied fluid mechanics, aircraft structure, aero-propulsion, aeromodelling, flight dynamics and control. Some of the electives include aerodynamics, satellite communication, aircraft electrical system, spacecraft avionics, space science and space environment, radar technology, flight stability and control, and computational fluid dynamics.
Once students complete this undergraduate program, they can start working as an avionics design and technology specialist, air defense systems engineer, satellite engineer, and aircraft maintenance specialist. An applicant needs to score at least 50% in aggregate in intermediate / 10+2 in physics, chemistry, and mathematics. The candidate will also have to clear the UPESEAT (UPES Engineering Aptitude Test) entrance exam, achieving the prescribed cutoff percentage.
The B.Tech (Applied Petroleum Engineering [upstream]) is one of the most popular undergraduate engineering programs of UPES engineering college. The course is a fulltime on-campus program with an academic duration of 4 years. The program aims to instill technical capabilities in students so that they can play a crucial role in exploring and producing hydrocarbons.
The learners also pick up the basics about the upstream sector, especially in drilling and oil well engineering, petrophysics, EOR (enhanced oil recovery), production, and reservoir. The students come to know about the unconventional exploration and production methods pertaining to shale gas and coal-based methane.
They also receive hands-on training on Petrel, Pipesim, Eclipse, PANSYSTEM, CMG, Ansys Aqwa, and Aspen plus oil and gas software. Some of the core subjects comprise petroleum data analytics and management, digital oil field, petroleum data analytics and management, oil and gas marketing and resource management, offshore drilling & production operations. After completing the course, the students can apply for jobs like MWD engineer, production engineer, reservoir engineer, drilling engineer, mud logging engineer, well testing analyst, and well logging engineer.
The eligibility criteria for this program are the same as those of B.Tech (aerospace engineering [avionics]).
The B.Tech (Fire and Safety Engineering) is a 4-year undergraduate engineering course that stimulates students to look for innovative ways to prevent fire hazards. The curriculum educates students on the science of designing structures that takes into account the aspects of property protection and fire safety. Students also become aware of how to conserve natural resources and safeguard the built environment.
Some of the subjects included in the syllabus are fire engineering, first aid and emergency procedure, electrical system safety and its design, fire safety field training, and safety in rail and road transport. Students, who successfully complete this course, go on to work as fire and safety managers, fire risk assessors, fire & safety officer, fire prevention engineer, and so on. Eligibility conditions for this program are identical to the above two programs.
The M.Tech (Renewable Energy Engineering) is a postgraduate program in engineering with a two-year study period. This postgraduate course creates professionals who go on to meet the heavy demand for energy professionals in the country as well as abroad. Students by studying this program will be able to confront the challenges of environmental sustainability and climate change.
After completing this program, students can look forward to a fulfilling career in the energy efficiency field. Some of the subjects included in the course include energy management system, biomass conversion technology, solar thermal technologies, waste heat recovery & cogeneration, renewable energy, and alternate energy technologies.
