Symbiosis Centre for Media & Communication Reviews on Placement, Faculty, Hostel by Students

Well, being an Arts student there wasn’t much left on the table as almost all the niche courses are for commerce and science students. BA in Mass Communication is a niche course and SCMC Pune for sure is the niche college for it. Coming from Nagpur SCMC was the only choice for me because Mumbai has their advantages but then some disadvantages too. BMM course of Mumbai University is vast in many senses but Symbiosis is something else. For media studies, one will find no better place than SCMC. As a part of our three-year course, we underwent a lot of NGO work and internships too were compulsory which otherwise in BA is not. SCMC was like more work and play kind of institute as we had a lot of fun during the course. Some of the most active clubs of colleges is what you will see at SCMC as the clubs here ranged from music, writing, sports, dance, and photography to name some of them. All in all, SCMC is the best place to make connections, learn communication and finally converge on the things that we learn in three years.Read Full Review

SCMC has a great infrastructure that has helped its students to express the way they want. We were given a free hand in terms of choosing all that we want among various options. Unlike my friends who chose advertisements, I chose journalism and understand what it takes to be a responsible media person. As a trainee with Times Now, I was made to learn how to build a network and what it takes for a news channel before it is finally broadcasted. The college has given some of the big names in Media and the way the institute is operating the other institutes can learn from it. The only thing that goes against the college is that the college is in Pune if it was in Mumbai or Delhi, it would have crossed every benchmark. The institute is not harsh on students and has roped in the faculty that knows exactly how to handle the students.Read Full Review

SCMC is among the few colleges that offers media course. In media there were few options such as journalism and advertising and I chose advertising. The media course designed by Symbiosis is more inclined towards practical so that we are industry ready as soon as we pass out. We were often sent to attend some work shops or for a month’s internship and sometimes our parents doubted that are we studying in the college or engaged with something else. The best part was that this is one college where one can find girls dominance. Even our faculty members asked us to be proud of the fact that girls have dominated boys in this field. The college has done everything possible in its capacity to make sure that we contribute the best to our abilities and this is why I feel that our college still hasn’t got the recognition that it deserves.Read Full Review
