Sri Kalabyraveshwara Swamy Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital & Research Center situated in Bangalore was set up in 1997. The primary objective of establishing SKAMCH&RC was to cater to the consistently increasing demand for Ayurvedic education. On the other hand, SKAMCH&RC founders wanted to breathe new life into the ancient therapeutic system through the institution’s establishment.
His Holiness Sri Dr. Balagangadharanatha Maha Swamiji played a key role in setting up SKAMCH&RC. SKAMCH&RC was founded under the auspices of Sri Adichunchanagiri Shikshana Trust ® which owns and manages three hundred academic institutions. The medical college & hospital and research center lies in Vijaynagar, close to Bangalore’s downtown, and can be reached easily.
Since its inception, SKAMC has disseminated the best quality of Ayurveda education tempered with hands-on training and exposure to clinical practice. The institution consistently strives to transform students into capable and ethical Ayurveda doctors who can provide effective healthcare services. This Ayurvedic medical college and hospital offers three academic programs- Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medical Sciences, Doctorate of Medicine, and M.S.
The institute has affiliation with RGUHS (Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences), and approved by Karnataka Government, Department of Ayush, Govt. of India and Central Council of Indian Medicines. The intake capacity of the college is 100 students for the BAMS course and 6 students each of the five specialized Ayurveda branches under postgraduate programs.
The specialized branches include Panchakarma, Kayachikitsa, Prasuti Tantra and Stree Roga, Shalakya Tantra, and Shalya Tantra. The medical school offers M.D programs in Panchkarma and Kayachikitsa and M.S courses in the other three specializations. The vision of SKAMC is to prepare proficient Ayurveda practitioners and furnish a platform for promoting advanced education in Ayurveda.
The medical college and hospital also encourages and fosters research in Ayurveda for furthering global health.
