Varalakshmi School of Nursing courses are at diploma, postgraduate and undergraduate levels. The eligibility norms for the different programs vary, thus the candidates ought to apply only if eligible.
The VSCN’s GNM course runs for 3 years, following which the successful candidates obtain diplomas. As part of this full-time program, the pupils study the fundamentals of Nursing. Also, the learning of this program is helpful for pursuing advanced studies in Nursing.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this course, the candidates must pass their 10+2 standard exams with 40% marks, having subjects including English and 4 others from recognized Educational Boards, in streams of Arts, Science, or Commerce. The minimum age to apply is 17 years. Besides, medical fitness is another pre-requisite.
At Varalakshmi College of Nursing, the Bachelor of Science in Nursing is for undergraduates, having duration of 3 years. This full-time program equips the pupils to provide healthcare services in their roles as nurses and midwives. They receive training to be caretakers to the disorderly individuals for comforting them during the recovery period. Through this course, the pupils can avail several opportunities ranging from bed-related practices to administrative functions.
Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility norms of the College’s B.Sc. Nursing course require the aspirants to complete their 10+2 standards, with subjects such as Chemistry, Physics, English, and Biology. For the Biology subject, Zoology and Botany have to be individual subjects.
The candidates who have completed the Vocational Higher Secondary Course of the Board of Vocational Higher Secondary Examination in Kerala must have minimum 5 subjects. Moreover, their topics should be English, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, along with the vocational subject, for them to be eligible for the program.
Varalakshmi Nursing College offers full-time, postgraduate M.Sc. Nursing program has 2-year duration. During this course, the pupils become familiar with advanced concepts of Nursing. Also, after completing the program, they can avail job options such as nurse practitioner and clinical nurse specialist, among other independent Nursing roles. They can opt to become educators and researchers in the Nursing field, too. Moreover, they can build their careers in forensic nursing, overseas nursing, case management, and military nursing.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for this course, the candidates should pass their B.Sc. in Nursing, or Post Basic Bachelor of Nursing (P.B B.Sc.), from any University that is affiliated to RGUHS or any other equivalent University. Having 1-year experience after completion of the P.B B.Sc. in Nursing or B.Sc. in Nursing is a requisite, as well. The aspirant should, also, be a Registered Midwife and Registered Nurse from any State Nursing Council.
Additionally, those candidates who have passed from any university other than RGUHS have to submit Eligibility Certificate.
