BGSGIMS offers a full time five years course of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS).
MBBS is an undergraduate course in the medical field of 5.5 years followed by a year of compulsory internship. In this undergraduate course, students get a brief lesson about human anatomy, human cytology, chemistry, pharmaceutical, drug formulation, and method of surgery.
To take admission, students must have passed the P.U.C examination conducted by the Karnataka state, with Physics, Biology, and Chemistry as optional subjects. Candidates must pass the B.Sc examination from any recognized university with having three of the subjects Physics, Botany, Chemistry, and Zoology. The course contains subjects like biochemistry, physiology, anatomy, microbiology, pathology, and pharmacology. Students get 5 years of training by interacting with patients and gaining practical knowledge of the diseases.
After completing the MBBS degree candidates have two options, either start practicing or go for a job in the medical field. Students can become Doctors, Physicians, Junior Surgeons, Medical professors, and Researchers or can join various Health Care Centers.
