CMR University (CMRU) is situated in Bangalore, Karnataka, and was established in 2013. The university has gained the membership of AIU. CMRU is recognized by the UGC. CMRU is a private educational institute. CMRU is a part of the CMR Group of Institutions. Few B.Com courses at the university are affiliated with the ACCA, ICAI, and CIMA. The university has collaborations with many foreign universities from different countries. The institute is ranked 4th by the Times for its School of Engineering and Technology in 2022.
The university has numerous courses to offer on different levels. Many UG, PG, Doctoral, M.Phil, and Diploma and Certificate courses are available for the students. The university offers courses in various disciples. Like engineering, law, architecture, economics & commerce, and education. The campus of the CMR University is spread over a surface area of 60 acres of land near the lakefront with scenic views. The university has state-of-art architecture. The campus is under CCTV vigilance for security reasons. Some of the facilities provided by the university are as follows:
Student Accommodation: There are separate hostels for boys and girls at CMRU. They have single, double, triple and, four sharing occupancies available at hostels for the students. The students staying at the hostels of the university are eligible to use all the amenities of the university. They are provided with access to high-speed internet facilities. The students are provided with laundry facilities at the hostels. The hostels of the university have a 24 hours electricity backup in case of emergency. Biometrics is installed at the hostels for the attendance of the students. There are certain rules and regulations which the student has to follow while staying at the university hostels.
Sports: The CMR University encourages the students to participate in sports as much as possible. And for the same motive, the students are provided with special sports quota scholarships. Each department has a separate building dedicated to them at the university. Parking is also provided by the university on the campus premises for the staff as well as students and faculty members. The university provides with Wi-Fi facilities all over the campus premises. They provide with the latest technologies to the students regarding all the aspects of academic learning. The IT labs of the university are equipped with the latest technologies with state-of-art facilities.
The classrooms and conference rooms at the university are specially designed. For providing a better student- teacher interface. During the year 2013, the CMR University (CMRU) was set up. Based in the Indian state of Karnataka’s capital city that is Bangalore, the CMR University is a State Private and Co-educational one. The University has the accreditation of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). And the CMRU’s promoting body is the CMR Jnanadhara Trust.
The University’s founder is the Late Sri Chikka Muniyappa Reddy who was a renowned philanthropist and educationalist. The Trust was constituted in the year 1990, as part of his vision and to pay a tribute to him. Over the years, the Trust has established, and continues to manage the CMR Group of Institutions (CMRGI) that includes the CMR Uni. Besides, the Group consists of several higher education institutes such as schools and universities. Though, to apply for CMRU’s B.Tech programs, the applicant has to go through any one of the following methods: Common Entrance Test, COMEDK, CMRUAT.
The COMEDK is a state-level examination that the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) conduct. And, the CMRUAT (a University-level exam) is the CMR University entrance exam.
