Goa University, North Goa established in 1985 is a State University, currently having 151-200 position in NIRF Ranking 2024 and 551-600 score out of 760 in QS Asia 2023. Goa University North Goa is approved by UGC, MoE (MHRD) and AIU, and is accredited by NAAC-A. Admission in Goa University is offered in Engineering, Management and Humanities at UG/ PG/ Diploma/ Doctorate/ Certificate level with scholarship benefits to deserving students.
Goa University North Goa has been in existence since 1984, although it started its academic curriculum from 1st June 1985. Currently, over 60 colleges are affiliated with the university. The University is working as a “State University” with the approval of UGC. It is recognised by AIU, and is accredited by NAAC.
Vision: Goa University's vision is to prepare its students to cope up with the changing world by providing them with the necessary skills, knowledge, and approach to contribute to the betterment of the society.
Mission: It aims to disseminate socially and economically relevant knowledge with moral values at the tertiary level of education.
The University’s academic programs include undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, certificate, and research programs. B.A, B.Pharm, BAMS, B.E, BA.LL.B, B.Arch, M.A, M.E, MBBS, Ph.D, etc. are the courses run by the university in the colleges affiliated with it. Students seeking admission for PG courses in the university must have cleared bachelor’s exam in the related field, and secured rank in the Goa University Admissions Ranking Test (GU-ART) in the related subject. For Ph.D admissions it is mandatory to qualify, Goa University – Ph.D Entrance Test (GU-PET) by all the applicants. Candidates who qualify in one of the following exams: eJRF / GPAT / NET / M.Phil / SET / GATE / GPAT etc. are exempted from attempting GU-PET. They will directly be selected for the interview round.
The schedule, dates, venue, and other details relating to the entrance exam are notified to the candidates through the official website of the university. The University has a Directorate of Student Placement and Alumni Relations (DSPAR) which organises Placement drives and all the placement activities such as, seminar, guidance workshop, placement fair, and more. The DSPAR conducts several activities to ensure that students get their dream job. It has nurtured connections with leading companies, universities and professional leaders to find better job opportunities for its students and to give them hands-on experience through internships in different companies.
Many students from different schools functioning under the university have been placed in some of the reputed companies in recent years. Some of the prominent companies that visit the Goa University campus are Godrej Agrovet, Tavant Technologies, Deccan Fine Chemicals, Chegg India, UNICHEM Laboratories, Aspire Corporate Solutions, Museum of Goa, Jubilant Foodworks, and more.
The University campus was set up on 402 acres of land with world-class infrastructure facilities. The faculty-blocks and administrative buildings are designed in a way to support the educational requirements of the students.
