RV College of Architecture, Bangalore Best Courses
RVCA offers two courses for students who want to pursue a career in architecture. These are Bachelors of Architecture (B. Arch) and Masters of Architecture (M. Arch). The admission criterion for the two courses is explained below.
B. Arch
KCET Admissions (Karnataka resident)
The college takes admission through the merit list provided by KCET of the ongoing year which is published by KEA. Along with this, the candidate is also required to have/be
- Aptitude in Architecture – NATA: A valid score of NATA
- Examination Qualification- Minimum 50% (average)/ Second Division and the result of grade 10+2/ PUC/ any other relevant state examination.
- The candidate should be a resident of Karnataka.
- The candidate should be at least 17 years of age.
Candidates who seek to get admission through KCET are required to procure an admission with the CET Cell of the Examination Authority of Karnataka (KEA).
COMED-K
The weightage for admission is mentioned below:
- NATA shall be given 50% weightage.
- 50% weightage of the qualifying examination.
- Admission shall be given to the candidates via Consortium of Medical Engineering and Dental College of Karnataka known as COMED-K. The candidates are required to take the 10+2 senior secondary or an equivalent degree examination having Mathematics as one of the core subjects or a 10+3 Diploma that is recognized by the Central or the State Government and must score at least 50% marks on an average.
- Candidates belonging to the SC, ST or OBC category are required to score a minimum of 45% marks in their qualifying examination.
- Candidates must score at least 80 out of 200 in their National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) irrespective of their category (General or Reserved).
- Candidates who seek admission through this category must register by filling up the online forms available on the COMED-K website and must check the updates regularly on the website after registering.
M. Arch
PGCET
Eligibility
- Candidates are required to have a degree in B. Arch from a recognized University with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks to be eligible to apply.
- The candidate is required to take the PGCET organized by KEA which is announced in May or June.
- Candidate requires a valid score of GATE.
Admission Procedure
There are two categories under which the admission can be obtained.
- The candidate must take the PGCET.
- Candidates with a GATE score can directly apply provided they have a valid score.
- If the candidates reside outside of the country, they are required to obtain equivalent marks in their degree and get it checked by the Association of Indian Universities who will rectify the degree.
- A profile review and personal interview shall be conducted by the college authorities at the time of admission in the college.
Foreign Students
International students are required to obtain an equivalent degree through the Association of Indian Universities. Candidates can go directly to the PGCET cell of Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) and take a test conducted by KEA in July or August as per the date of the examination.

The research areas are as follows:
- Thermal comfort evaluation in the buildings.
- Vernacular architecture.
- Modern Indian Architecture.
Post Graduate Program

- Vernacular Architecture
Research targets are setin order to observe the changes in the evolution of proposals for an urban design for various small towns close to the Cauvery River. Srirangapatna, Kumbakonam, Chidambaram, and Bhavani are the towns selected for the research.
These towns are sacred and royal and have a broader network of subsidiary companies, and are famous for their temples. Not only that, these towns have settlements that were built under the Chola empire and later on they were nurtured and maintained by the Vijayanagar rulers, Naiks and the Marathas. Over the years, these towns have undergone dramatic transformations as they have now become a collection of landscapes and fragmented settlements.
Undergraduate Program
Students at the undergraduate level have published research papers at the national as well as the international level in different forums, seminars, and conferences. Some of the research papers published are –
