Periyar EVR College (also known as Thanthai Periyar Government Arts and Science College), Tiruchirappalli was established in the year 1965 as a Public (Autonomous) Educational Institution, currently having 151-200 position in NIRF Ranking 2024. Periyar EVR College Tiruchirappalli is accredited by NAAC, and is affiliated with Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli. Periyar EVR College offers admission in the field of Humanities, Science and Computer Applications at UG/ PG/ Diploma/ Doctorate level with scholarship benefits to deserving students. Dr. P.S. Vijayalakshmi is the Principal.
Established by the Government of Tamil Nadu, Periyar EVR College, Khajamalai Tiruchirappalli was established to provide higher education to the oppressed and poor students and to make them responsible citizens. The college is affiliated with the Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli and is accredited by NAAC. The college received ‘Autonomous’ status in the academic session 1998-1999 by UGC and provides higher education in the field of science, humanities, and computer application.
Vision: The College was set-up with a vision to provide knowledge to the socially and financially weak students, so that they can live their life with dignity and honor.
Mission: It aims to disseminate knowledge to make students aware of their social responsibilities and to make them capable of facing the global challenges.
The college at present runs 15 UG programs and 16 PG programs in different disciplines under thirteen departments. Other than UG and PG programs, M.Phil and Ph.D degrees are also provided by the college. Some of the courses run by the college are: B.A, B.Com, B.Sc, BCA, M.A, M.Sc, MCA, and M.Com in different disciplines.
The rules and regulations of the Government of Tamil Nadu are followed by the college to admit students to all UG, PG, and Doctorate programs.
Students should note that if they discontinued the program in the second or third year in other colleges they are not allowed to take admission to this college.

Note: The maximum age limit of 21 years is applicable for all UG programs. Relaxation of 5 years is allowed for differently-abled candidates and 3 years for SC / ST / DNC / BC / MBC applicants.
The reservation criteria are as follows:
Students of the college can avail the benefits of scholarships funded by the government. The college does not provide scholarships on its own nor from any private organisations. The State Government Scholarship for SC / ST students, State Government Scholarship for BC / MBC / DNC students, HESS for SC and ST students are the scholarships granted by the college. The scholars of the college can apply for National Fellowship (SC / NET / JRF).

The Training and Placement Cell at the college works all through the year to organises training programs and facilitates placement opportunities for its students. It grooms its students to make them ready for the campus selection programs. The Cell contacts various agencies to sponsor training programs, workshops, and other skill development programs for students.
The companies that have come to the college for On-campus Placement include, Capgemini, Royal Agro Farm, Reliance Digital, OMEGA HealthCare, Hughes Chemical, ICICI Bank, Croma Company, Jiomart, Tech India Infoway, etc.
The college started its academic curriculum on 9.65 acres of donated land. With the passage of time the college campus expanded to 52.62 acres. The campus is equipped with both academic and residential facilities. There are 100+ classrooms and seminar halls in the college. The classrooms are ICT enabled with projectors. The college has sufficient number of science laboratories to enable students learn by conducting various experiments and gain practical knowledge. Wi-Fi facility is available in almost all parts of the campus. A Cooperative store is also functioning within the college premises which sells books, stationery, instruments, and many other things.
