Kandaswami Kandar's College Velur

Kandaswami Kandar's College Velur was established in 1962 with Pre-University courses. In 1971 postgraduate level courses began, which were sanctioned by the University of Madras. Eventually, in 1998, the college was affiliated with Periyar University, Salem. It is a public educational institution that is accredited by NAAC and has secured UGC 12B and 12(f) status. The institute was founded by Sri Sankara Kandaswami Kandar and currently offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate courses in various disciplines of Humanities, Science and Management.

The public educational institution offers various undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate courses in various disciplines. The college has several departments which offer aided, or unaided degree courses for different subjects. The eligibility criteria for the courses are as follows:

Admission process:

• Students must collect the application form and prospectus in person from the college office.
• Completed application form must be registered at the college office upon payment of registration fees and submitted for consideration.
• Provisionally selected candidates would be notified by post and they have to attend an interview with the principal on the respective date for final selection.
• Admission will be done strictly based on merit and the reservation policies of the Government of Tamil Nadu.

There are several scholarships offered by the college.

• The Management scholarship: It provides partial or complete waiver of the fees. It also covers boarding and lodging expenses as well as funding of field trips and excursions. This scholarship is applicable to Indian residents and only for first year applicants. They must have an absolutely unconditional admission offer from the college. Furthermore, the student should not be a beneficiary of any other scholarship at the present time. The scholarship eligibility will be evaluated every year based on academic performance, attendance, academic merit of differently abled students, orphan students, excellence in sports or community service.
• KKC Merit Scholarship: This is awarded to the overall semester topper of the batch and the subject topper. It is awarded at both senior and junior levels. The students are awarded a cash scholarship and a certificate.
