Tamil Nadu National Law University (formerly known as Tamil Nadu National Law School) [TNNLU], Tiruchirappalli established in 2013 is a State University. TNNLU Tiruchirappalli is approved by BCI and UGC. Admission in Tamil Nadu National Law University is offered in Law at UG/ PG/ Doctorate level with scholarship benefits to deserving students.
Tamil Nadu National Law University came into existence by an Act of the Government of Tamil Nadu to provide standard legal education and training to the students at the global level. This university laid its establishment stone in the year 2012 and started functioning in 2013. TNNLU is approved by UGC and got its recognition from the Bar Council of India.
TTNLU was established with the vision and mission to develop a sense of responsibility in research scholars by providing them with knowledge and training in legal and law operations. It focuses on graduating individuals who can serve society in the law field with ethics and understand their role in the development of the nation.
This university provides UG and PG Legal Studies to the students in programs like B.Com LL.B (Hons.), BA LL.B (Hons.), and one year LLM degree in Intellectual Property Law, Natural Resources Law, Corporate & Securities Law, etc.
The university provides admission to both Indian and NRI students. The admission is strictly based on merit marks scored in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). Apart from this, to apply for any UG or PG course, the candidate needs to meet the admission eligibility criteria of TNNLU. Candidates willing to take admission in UG programs need to pass 10+2 with a minimum of 45% marks in the case of general and other category students except for ST / SC as they need to score minimum 40% marks. On the other hand, if the candidate is going for PG Legal Studies, then they have to score a minimum of 55% in graduation if they belong to OBC / Unreserved / Specially Abled Persons (SAP) or any other category. However, if the candidate belongs to the SC / ST category, then they need to score 50% marks in graduation.

The university provides financial assistance to the students by providing them with a range of scholarships. The ST / SC category students belonging to Tamil Nadu will not have to pay any tuition fees throughout the academic duration as per the Government of Tamil Nadu. Additionally, it also provides scholarships to students applying for admissions via Tamil Nadu Government School Quota. Financial assistance to students belonging to Most Backward Classes, Backward Classes, and Denotified Communities is also provided via some Welfare Departments by the Government of Tamil Nadu. Moreover, candidates from Tamil Nadu can apply for the First Graduate Scholarship if they are the first to graduate in the family and candidates belonging to eligible minorities can apply for Minorities Welfare Department Scholarships.

Placement is a crucial facility that TNNLU provides to its students and for this; it has also established an Internship and Placement Committee (IPC). IPC is equipped with expert placement officers and committee members who work to provide placement opportunities to students in various sectors. This committee maintains professional relations with the leading recruiting legal firms and works as a communicational bridge between the companies and students. It monitors the growth of the students on a regular basis and assists them in developing a professional personality. This committee is also responsible for providing internship opportunities in law firms, government bodies, advocates, etc. to the students so that they can develop their on-field skills.

The campus of TNNLU covers an area of 25 acres of land and is located at Navalurkuttappattu Village, Tiruchirappalli- Dindigul NH 45 and it is about 12 km away from the city’s Central Bus Stand and Railway Junction, and 22 km away from Tiruchirappalli International Airport. The university is about 10 km away from Sessions, District Court, and other Sub-ordinate courts.
