DAV University

DAV University is a part of DAV committee, which is one of India’s largest non govt educational institutes. UGC, a statutory body of the GOI, has officially recognised DAV University. BCI has approved the 5 years integrated B.A. LL.B (Hons.) course and legal studies. The Punjab State Legislature founded DAV University as a full-fledged institution for learning. The university started its 1^st academic session at Jalandhar in 2013. On academic excellence and help for students, it is the great university in Punjab.

The college offers UG and PG programs at campus in many streams and fields. It has department of engineering, applied and life sciences, Agri sciences, social sciences, and computer applications. The list doesn’t end here, computer applications, mass communication, languages, law, literature and physical education are also the top departments. The university has PhD programs in PCM, Bio Tech, Agriculture, Commerce and many other technical courses.

For educational reasons, department of civil, mechanical engineering, bio tech, botany, and management arranged tours for students to give them knowledge they need. The DAV University Alumni Association was also set up to develop and continuously improve the level of connection with DAV graduates. The University has hired experienced faculty by making careful selections under the UGC rules. At the university, the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) currently is the foundation for all academic subjects. The CRC supports the students' skills and character development. It provides internships and helps students enrolled in various professional courses for placement.

DAV University takes online admissions like many other universities in the country. Students can directly go to the apply link to fill in the needed details and pay the registration fees. The students are selected based on their eligibility and availability of seats in the university.

The eligibility criteria for every course are distinct and listed below:

Engineering courses: Those who are looking to take admission in the B.Tech streams should have passed their class XII with 50% with PCM for chemical degree, Physics and Maths for CSE, ME, Civil, ECE, and EE as compulsory subjects. For M.Tech courses students must have an engineering degree with 50% in the respective field.

Computer applications courses: For BCA courses students should have done their 12^th class with 50% and for MCA they should have done their graduation in B.Sc, BCA or B.Tech with 50%. To pursue B.Sc in CS students need to have PCM at their class XII level.

B.Sc/M.Sc (Hons): 50% at XII level for bachelor’s degree and same goes for master’s degree but students should have passed their UG in any stream. Students can do honors in any of the PCM subjects at UG and PG level.

BBA/MBA courses: 50% needed in 12^th class for BBA course as well as 50% is the requirement in the graduation for MBA course to take admission. For PG in International Business the same is the requirement at UG level.

B.Sc B.Ed/ BA B.Ed: These courses are of 4 years at UG level where students need to have 60% at Class XII level.

Physical Education Courses: To do a 2 years of B.P.Ed students need 50% at 10+2 level along with at least taking part in intercollegiate, regional, district competitions. For M.P.Ed students should have completed the B.P.Ed/B.Sc. in physical education with at least 50% marks.

BA LLB: It is a 5 year course and to take admission here students need to have 45% in their class XII.

For PhD students: A professional or a master’s degree with at least 55% overall marks or its equivalent grade B as determined by the UGC. Students who have done their M.Phil degree with 55% can move on to do their Ph.D. research. A 5% relaxation is available to sc/st/obc/differently abled or other backward classes as per the government rules.

NOTE: For all the courses that are listed above students who are from SC/ST castes have an upper edge as they get 5% relaxation.

DAV University has scholarship options for students under many categories based on their marks. It provides fee reductions and scholarships to academically outstanding students and members of socially underprivileged groups. It also assists qualified candidates with government scholarship programs, such as the Ashirwad for SC candidates, the PM scheme, and the Kalpna Chawala scholarship by the HP government. The eligible students can directly fill an online form named DAV university scholarship form to get the benefit.

The following is the list of main and prominent scholarships:

• Students with grades between 95% and 100% will get 50% scholarships on the yearly tuition costs during the first year only.
• Students will get 30% off on the yearly fees if they have grades from 90% to 94.99% only, they will get scholarships for the first year only.
• The third criterion is for students with marks between 85% and 89.99% where they will get 15% off on their annual fees.
• Lastly Students with grades between 80% and 84.99% will be eligible for a 10% concession on the annual tuition fee exclusively in the first year.
• Individuals who are new to the university and come from DAV organizations will get 10K rupees scholarships for B.Tech and MBA courses. The other courses’ students will be getting 5K off on their fees.
• Students who are entering the DAV University from the other DAV institute will get a 50% discount in the 1^st year.
• 10% discount on the yearly tuition costs during the initial year exclusively for dependents of military or police personnel, paramilitary, or ex-military.
• Two or more children belonging to the same parents will get 20% off, only 2^nd or 3^rd siblings receive scholarships if two or more siblings are enrolled in school.
• Wards of DAV University Staff get 60% off on the total fee for B.Tech and MBA and 50% is for other courses, (security and exam fees are not included).
• 1st Five Single Girl Children will get 100% off on the tuition fees. The condition says that the family's yearly earnings should be up to 5 lacs INR.
• Unique Scholarships for Students of the NE states. 50% discount on the yearly tuition fee each year, as well as 50% of the concession for hostel students. (Excluding food costs) if the student uses the hostel services.
• Students from the villages of Ballan, Daulatpur, Sarmastpur, Alawalpur, and Kishangarh who qualify for the Unnat Gram Abhiyan scheme get a 50% discount on the annual tuition fee in the first year only.
• There are also sports scholarships for students based on their achievements in the games.

Short-term courses and PhD students are not eligible for all these scholarships.
