USTM works to provide effective and relevant placement opportunities to the students and for this, the university has established an active Career Guidance and Counselling Operations. This operation works on providing excellent placement experience to the students from their first year of academics. The cell maintains positive and healthy connections with various national and international companies and invites them for on-campus placement drives and internship programs. The Counseling and Guidance Cell of the university helps the students in opting for the right career path and preparing the right agenda for the future.

The university also has a Training and Placement Division (T&P) that keeps an eye on the placement activities like pre-placement talks, coordination with the employee, etc. To provide hands-on experience to the students and an insight into the corporate world, the T&P Division organises professional workshops, industry visits, seminars, conferences, guest lectures, etc. This facilitates the students in understanding the needs and requirements of the corporate world and assists them throughout their work life.

Located at Techno City, Kiling Road, the campus of the university is constructed in a beautiful area surrounded by greenery. The campus is in between the Assam-Meghalaya border, Baridua, and is on the 9th mile, opposite the CRPF camp. The campus is at a distance of 85 kms from Shillong and 6 km from Dispur. Additionally, the campus is 15 km away from the Railway Station of Guwahati and 30 km away from the International Airport of Guwahati. USTM works on fulfilling the academic facilities and amenities of the students by providing them with excellent and modern infrastructure. The campus of USTM consists of 150+ well-furnished lecture halls & tutorial rooms, fast 24X7 Wi-Fi connection and other amenities and services like:

• Library: The name of the central library present here is Maulana Azad Central Library. The library of the university aims at providing an exhaustive collection of academic and research material related to various programs and courses. The library consists of a number of books, textbooks, magazines, national and foreign journals, periodicals, etc. A digital library facility is also available here which assists the students in gathering knowledge online with the help of an internet connection. This library fulfills the academic needs of more than 5,000 scholars and provides them with a calm area for reading.
• Laboratories: The University has established state-of-the-art labs to provide practical experience to the students. There are multiple labs present on the campus for different departments like Tissue Culture Laboratory, Animal House Facility, Central Instrumentation Facility, Food Processing lab, Biotechnology lab, etc. All these labs are well furnished and assist the students in testing the theoretical part of academics.
• Hostels: There are currently four hostels available on the campus, two each for girls and boys. The accommodation is modern and each room here has a homely atmosphere, a spacious area, clean, hi-tech furniture, and a student-friendly environment. The hostellers are in safe hands as the hostel premises stay under the supervision of expert wardens and security guards. Hostel rooms are allotted to the students on first come first serve basis and there are multiple entertainment facilities available.
• Sports: To provide a healthy body and mind to the students, the university has excellent sports arrangements for the students. There are both indoor and outdoor games available for the students like Table Tennis, Kho-Kho, Football, Cricket, and Basketball, Badminton, Volleyball, etc. Apart from this, the university has a well-functioning Fitness and Yoga Centre that enhances the spirit of the students and helps them maintain a healthy and positive lifestyle. Experienced trainers are also provided to the students for better and right practice.
• Auditorium: The University has one big Central Auditorium and one small auditorium where national, international, and other events and programs are organised for the university. The auditorium is fully furnished and air-conditioned with excellent light and sound effects. For presentations and conferences, the auditorium also has large screens with video & audio facilities. The Central Auditorium is divided into two floors; it can provide seating facilities to 2000+ people on the ground floor and up to 1000 people on the first floor (balcony).
• Other Facilities: Three Mini Conference Halls, Health facilities, Horse Riding Club, Guest House, Animal House, etc.
