International Institute for Population Sciences [IIPS], Mumbai established in 1956 is a Deemed to be University. IIPS Mumbai is approved by UGC and MoE (MHRD), and is accredited by NAAC-A. Admission in International Institute for Population Sciences is offered in Engineering, Humanities and Science at PG/ Diploma/ Doctorate level.
International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS) Mumbai when established was known by the name Demographic Training and Research Centre (DTRC). It was set up under the joint sponsorship of the Government of India, United Nations, and Sir Dorabji Tata Trust. It is currently administered by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare as an autonomous organisation and was given ‘Deemed To Be Institute’ status on August 14, 1985. It is approved by NAAC with “A” grade and is recognised by MHRD.
Vision: The vision of the Institute is to become a prominent research and teaching institution by achieving excellence and innovation in population sciences. Its motto is to render evidence-based policy and programmatic initiatives to improve population health outcomes and uphold health equity.
Mission: The Institute aims to provide its students the knowledge and skills required for the planning, implementation and monitoring of the program to improve population health outcomes. It strives hard to face the challenges relating to population health outcomes and their determining factors.
IIPS provides health related education and research in India. It provides degrees for UG, PG, Doctorate, and M.Phil level by offering multiple courses in the various fields. Here is the list of some of the courses offered by the institute:
Students interested in taking admission in the institute to do the post graduate courses like MA and M.Sc must qualify in the entrance examination conducted by the institute with centers across India. While the admission to Doctorate courses are through a three stage process: Online Entrance Test, Research Proposal Writing, and Personal Interview. Admission of the eligible candidates belonging to the reserved categories (SC / ST / OBC / PWD / EWS) will be as per the government of India norms. Hence, students before applying to any of the courses must first confirm the eligibility conditions for the respective courses. Part-time Ph.D programs are also offered at the institute with no age limit. Candidates interested in pursuing the program can apply online and send a copy of the research proposal to the institute. Selection of the candidates is on the grounds of written test taken offline and interview.

International Institute for Population Sciences Fee Structure
The Placement Cell at the institute facilitates graduating students find a job that suits their needs and desires. The IIPS Cell has good connections with different corporate and NGOs to develop research and data for policy formulation. It invites various institutions to conduct placement drive and share the resumes and profile of the candidates to these organisations for reference. After selecting the resumes, organisations conduct tests and interview at the campus as per their recruitment process.
Most of the passed out students of the institute are working in different organisations or are engaged in higher studies or work as research officers in different projects. Some of the corporations that recruited qualified candidates from the campus drive are Observer Research Foundation, UNICEF, NABARD, Petroleum Trade Network, Mckinsey & Company, SEARCH Foundation, World Health Organisation, etc.
