Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit [SSUS], Ernakulam established in 1993 is a State University, currently having 151-200 position in NIRF Ranking 2021. SSUS Ernakulam is approved by UGC. Admission in Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit is offered in Humanities, Teaching and Arts at UG/ PG/ Doctorate level with scholarship benefits to deserving students.
Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit was founded in the year 1993 at Kalady, Kerala to provide quality knowledge in Sanskrit language. In due course of time, the university expanded its academic curriculum to provide education in Indian and Foreign languages, Social Sciences, and Fine Arts besides Sanskrit. In 2005, it got ‘State University’ status with the approval of UGC. The university is also accredited by NAAC.
Vision: The Vision of the university is to provide education for self actualisation and transformation of the students such that they become critical thinkers with right outlook, understanding, and scientific temperament.
Mission: The University aims to achieve its mission of interpreting the historical heritage of India embedded in the Sanskritik traditions to the entire world. It works to bring changes to the society for overcoming the challenges of life.
The University runs 26 research programs, 25 post graduate programs, 20 M.Phil programs, 10 undergraduate programs, 9 certificate courses, 2 PG diploma programs, and 1 diploma program. It is the first university in the state to implement an Outcome Based Teaching, Learning and Evaluation (OBTLE) system at the postgraduate level. Several programs run by the university include: B.A, M.A, MSW, BFA, MFA, MP.Ed, M.Phil, Ph.D, and more in different discipline like Sanskrit Sahitya, Music, Vedic Studies, Sanskrit Vedanta, Sanskrit Nyaya, Dance (Bharatanatyam & Mohiniyattam), and more. These courses are run under 10 faculty heads.
Candidates for undergraduate courses in the university are admitted based on the merit scored in the qualifying exam plus Aptitude Tests and Proficiency Assessment. Those who are applying for postgraduate courses must clear the Common Entrance Tests conducted by the university followed by Group Discussions and Aptitude Tests. Additionally, candidates must meet the eligibility criteria for the course they are applying for. The university admits students for UG and PG courses every year in April month.
Admissions to Ph.D courses are subject to the entrance test and the research proposals discussed by the Research Committee. Admissions for research scholars in the university are notified in October every year. No entrance exam will be held for admission to diploma and certificate courses. Applicants for these programs are enrolled based on their merit in the qualifying exam.

Students seeking admission to the university must submit the online application form through the authentic portal of the university.
Undergraduate students in the university are granted Sree Sankara Scholarship to promote Sanskrit education. The scholarship amount is transferred to all undergraduate students pursuing Sanskrit core courses based on their attendance. In addition to it, meritorious UG and PG students are encouraged by awarding Merit Scholarships based on their academic performance and attendance. The eligibility criteria for the Merit Scholarships are fixed as 60% marks or grade equal to it at the qualifying exam.
Note: Students receive the scholarship amount for a period of ten months excluding semester break period.

The Career Guidance and Counseling Cell (CGCC) and the University Employment Information and Guidance Bureau work jointly to provide job opportunities for students. Students are facilitated with career guidance classes, seminars, webinars, group discussions, etc. They collect and provide career information and opportunities for higher studies. CGCC has a team of counselors who provide guidance on career options and range of courses. It organises training programs, workshops, personality development programs, etc to provide better career prospects.
The Headquarter and main campus of the university is located at Kalady, 6 kms away from the Cochin International Airport. There are eight regional campuses of the university spread across Kerala at Thrissur, Ettumanoor, Panmana, Koyilandy, Thiruvananthapuram, Payyannur, Tirur, and Thuravoor. The infrastructure of the main campus at Kalady was designed keeping in mind preservation of the natural beauty of the area. There are two academic blocks, a Language Block, Koothambalam Fine Arts Block, and Physical Education and Activity Centre in the university campus. The traditional architecture of Koothambalam is the centre of attraction of the campus.
