Central University of Kerala

The Central Placement Cell (CPC) of the university works jointly with the Department Placement Cells (DPC) and Student Placement Coordinators (SPOs) to find better job opportunities for the university graduates. To make its students ready for the corporate world, it organises training programs which develop their career skills and soft skills. It arranges industrial visits, group discussions, and many more activities. It bridges the gap between potential recruiters and job seekers by facilitating departments to enter into MoUs. The CPC facilitates Campus Placement activities and invites companies to visit the campus to recruit qualified candidates.

When started, the university operated from a rented building at Nayanmarmoola, and since 2012 it has been operating from its own campus at Periye, Kasaragod. The campus was developed on 310 acres of land allotted by the Government of Kerala. The total built-up area of the campus is 6,58,400 Sq Ft. The campus is equipped with several infrastructure facilities making it a self-contained campus. Students are given lectures in ICT enabled classrooms, and research facilities are updated timely. There is an ICT Wing set-up in the university to provide support for all technical requirements of the university. A Crèche was opened for the working or studying parents in the university. Other than these facilities, few infrastructure facilities available in the campus are covered in the points below:

• Library: The Central Library of the university houses a wide collection of learning resources in different disciplines. It is located in the main campus, Periye, and is fully automated. The total collection of books in the library is more than 58,000, and 600+ special books in Braille. The Library is a member of eShodhSindhu consortium, wherein students can access 17,700+ e-journals through it. Students are facilitated with various services and facilities in the library like, reading room, Reference service, Interlibrary Loan, Competitive Examination Section, and more.
• Hostel: The University provides accommodation in eight hostels (5 women and 3 men) constructed in the campus by the name of Kabani, Madhuvahini, Nila, Pamba II, Pamba I, Neyyar, Periyar, and Amaravathi. The names of all the hostels are named after rivers in Kerala. The total accommodation strength in these hostels is over 1,500 students. Each hostel has its own independent building with its own kitchen, dining hall, reading room, television, computer room, etc. To provide accommodation to the official guests of the university, Nilgiri Guest House has been developed in the campus.
• Sports: Students’ health is of utmost importance; hence the university has added several sports infrastructure facilities in the campus to make its students healthy in mind, body, and soul. There are two playgrounds, a badminton court, and a multipurpose hall with facilities for indoor games too. Moreover, Zumba classes are organised to promote health consciousness among students and staff.
• Medical Facilities: A health centre known by the name “Aravalli Centre for Health and Medical Services” (ACHMS) was opened in the campus in 2016. The health centre caters to the basic medical requirements of the students and staff. It supplies medicines free of cost in emergencies to the university fraternity. Ambulance service is available round the clock.
• Other Facilities: Museum, Student Counseling Centre, Shuttle Services, Bank, Canteens, etc.
