UAS Bangalore

University of Agricultural Sciences - UAS Bangalore has its existence since 1964. However, the history of the university dates back to 1899 with the establishment of an experimental farm at Hebbal. The farm was upgraded to an agricultural school in 1913 which later transformed into Mysore Agricultural College in 1946. The university is approved by UGC with the State University status.

Currently, the university is running its courses through six campuses operating under it. The main objective of UAS Bangalore is to provide agricultural education suitable to the growing and changing demands of the society. It works to develop technologies to find solutions to the farmers’ problems and increase agricultural production.

UAS Bangalore is running UG, PG, and doctorate level programs like B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture, B.Tech. (Agriculture Engineering), B.Sc (Hons) Agriculture Business Management, M.Sc in Agriculture, M.Tech, MBA (ABM), etc in different disciplines. It offers Master’s degrees in more than 20 disciplines and Ph.D courses in 15+ disciplines.

Admissions in farm universities in Karnataka are done by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA). For admission to bachelor’s degree courses, a Common Entrance Test (CET) is conducted following the norms and rules of Government of Karnataka and ICAR. 50% seats for the UG programs in the university are reserved for children of Agriculturists and 15% seats are reserved for ICAR-NTS candidates. Students are also admitted through NRI quota. 5% for foreign students and 10% of the total intake capacity are available for NRI students.

Students must first check the eligibility criteria before applying to any of the courses. The general qualifications which students must fulfill to enroll in the university are:

• Eligibility Criteria for Bachelor’s Programs - Students must qualify in the KEA-CET exam for admission to UG courses and must pass 12^th class or Pre University Course (PUC) with PCMB as the main subjects for B.Sc and 12^th pass or PUC with PCM as the main subjects for B.Tech.
• Eligibility Criteria for Master’s Programs - Students for admission to Master degree courses must obtain a Bachelor’s degree with minimum OGPA OF 5.50 out of 10 or equivalent (For SC / ST candidates minimum OGPA is 5.00).
• Eligibility Criteria for Ph.D Programs - Master’s degree under 10+2+4+2 pattern in the concerned subject with minimum OGPA of 7.50 out of 10 for semester system and 2.5 out of 4 for trimester system are required for admission to doctorate courses. (For SC / ST candidates minimum OGPA is 7.00 for semester system and 2 for trimester system).

The university supports meritorious and rural students by awarding them a number of scholarships like UAS General Scholarship, Mythri Meluku-1983 Scholarship, Sri Munishamy Gowda Rajanna Merit Scholarship, Smt. Swarnamba T K Gurusiddappa Scholarship and the scholarships available at National Scholarship Portal and State Scholarship Portal. Students interested in availing any of the scholarships must contact the concerned authority after confirming the eligibility criteria of the respective scholarships.
